Vitalik Buterin Lends Hand of Support to DOGE Community

As a seasoned analyst with extensive experience in the cryptocurrency market, I’ve closely followed the developments within the industry for years. The recent news of Kabosu, the legendary Shiba Inu dog and inspiration behind the Dogecoin meme, passing away at the age of 19, has touched the hearts of many in the crypto community, including Vitalik Buterin, the founder of Ethereum.

As a researcher studying the world of cryptocurrencies, I’m sad to report that Vitalik Buterin, the founder and leading figure behind Ethereum, recently shared his sympathies on his X social media account regarding the loss of Kabosu, the beloved Shiba Inu meme dog.

This way, he indirectly again demonstrated support and respect to the Dogecoin community.

Vitalik Buterin pays tribute to Kabosu

As a crypto investor and follower of the industry’s news, I came across Vitalik Buterin’s heartfelt tweet expressing condolences to Atsuko Sato (@kabosumama) upon hearing about Kabosu’s passing at 19. This beloved Shiba Inu dog gained notoriety in 2010 when her photos spread virally across the internet. Inspired by this and the popular Doge meme, Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer created Dogecoin (DOGE) back in 2013. Kabosu’s image was adopted as the mascot for Dogecoin, adding to her popularity within the rapidly growing Dogecoin community.

Upon Kabosu’s unfortunate demise, I, as an analyst, observed numerous prominent figures within the crypto sphere expressing their condolences. Notable among them were Elon Musk, the recognized Dogecoin account, and DOGE‘s founder Markus. They all shared in the collective sorrow felt by the Dogecoin community.

Vitalik Buterin and Dogecoin Foundation

As an analyst, I would paraphrase Musk’s tweet by saying “Musk announced that the dog had ‘reached the heavens,'” or “Musk expressed that the dog had ‘made it to heaven.'” Regarding the DOGE creator’s meme, I would paraphrase it as “In the meme, Kabosu spoke with Death, who acknowledged that the dog was ‘considered exceptional.'”

Buterin, the Ethereum founder, has previously demonstrated respect towards the Dogecoin community in various ways. He made substantial donations to the Dogecoin Foundation in the past. In 2021, he joined this organization as a member and presented several proposals to enhance DOGE‘s functionality. One of these proposals suggested transitioning DOGE from the proof-of-work algorithm to the proof-of-stake one.
