Furryu, a popular Japanese retailer, unveiled a fresh figure based on the character 2B from Nier: Automata, available for pre-orders at the moment. Keep in mind that this collectible comes with a rather steep price tag, which might take a toll on your savings. Despite previous releases of figures featuring the beloved character from Play Arts Kai, Good Smile Company, Bandai S.H. Figuarts, and others, fans have found it difficult to justify the high cost of this stunning figurine.
Back in 2017, I found myself deeply engrossed in Nier: Automata, a masterpiece developed by PlatinumGames and Square Enix – the sequel to the captivating 2010 spin-off, Nier, which originated from the Drakengard series. This game shares the honor of having numerous endings with other titles such as Baldur’s Gate 3, Until Dawn, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, boasting a whopping 26 different conclusions!
Among these, five are considered the main endings, weaving together a connected narrative that spans over several years. The endings of Nier: Automata can vary significantly, ranging from amusing resolutions to completely unexpected finales. It’s an experience that keeps you guessing until the very end!
Furu-ya unveiled that the new 2B figure was inspired by the character’s design from the anime version of Nier: Automata Ver1.1a, a series directed by Ryōji Masuyama released in 2023. The figure boasts the character’s flowing robes and single-handed sword, and is now up for pre-order on the Furu-ya Hobby Mall website for Japanese residents. International buyers can reserve their doll via the Buyee widget or AmiAmi. While Nier: Automata is known for its amusing 2B memes, the high cost of this doll is no laughing matter – priced at an eye-watering 198,000 yen (approximately $1,322). However, the steep price can be somewhat explained by its larger 1/4 scale (around 43 cm or 16.93 inches tall) and intricate details such as traditional Japanese patterns in the material.

2B, often called YoRHa No.2 Type B, is a robot designed for combat against enemy droids from the 14th Machine War that threaten humanity’s planet in the YoRHa series. This iconic video game character has been featured extensively beyond her original game, Nier Automata, with custom modifications appearing in various titles, and appearances in both Nier Reincarnation and Final Fantasy 14 as well.

Square Enix, the publisher behind the action RPG series Nier, has unveiled its 15th-anniversary plans for this beloved franchise, with festivities set to commence in April 2025. The grand celebration will kick off with a special livestream event that promises fresh updates, engaging conversations with the masterminds behind the series, a mini live performance, and numerous other surprises. Excited fans of the series are eagerly anticipating (and hoping for) the possibility of a new Nier game announcement, as they’ve picked up on several hints dropped by the creators.
