Invincible’s Top 8 Allies: A Hero’s Ultimate Team

In my perspective, as I step into the role of Invincible, I’m consistently honing my powers and wisdom, all while being bolstered by my most trusted companions. Be it in the captivating pages of the comics or the thrilling episodes of the Amazon Prime Video series, it’s evident that Invincible wouldn’t shine as brightly without the defining influence of the remarkable allies I’ve encountered throughout my journey, despite the hardships they sometimes bring.

The following characters from the comic book series “Invincible” significantly impact Mark Grayson’s life, ultimately shaping him into an extraordinary hero by giving him dependable companions during times when he faces challenges that seem insurmountable without their help:

1. Nolan Grayson (Mark’s father) – a powerful and experienced superhero who serves as Mark’s mentor and role model.
2. Atom Eve (Alyssa Henderson) – Mark’s girlfriend, a fellow superhuman with incredible strength and the ability to manipulate matter.
3. William Clockwell (Robot) – a sentient robot created by Mark’s father, who assists him in various ways throughout his heroic journey.
4. Samuel “Sam” Shenk (Energy-boy) – a friend from school who develops superhuman abilities and becomes an ally to Mark.
5. Allen the Alien – a benevolent extraterrestrial who provides guidance and support to Mark during his training as a superhero.
6. Cecil Stedman (Battle-Beast) – a student at Terraheim, an intergalactic school for superpowered beings, who becomes a close friend and ally to Mark.
7. Dupli-Kate – a clone of Catherine Cage, Mark’s mother, who possesses similar powers to her original counterpart.
8. Thragg – a Viltrumite military officer who initially serves as an antagonist but later becomes an ally to the heroes in their fight against the Viltrumites.
9. Omni-Man (Ultra Boy) – Mark’s grandfather and one of the most powerful Viltrumites, who eventually reveals his true nature and becomes a significant adversary.

8. Omni-Man

Mark’s Father, a Viltrumite Who Seeks Redemption

  • First Appearance: Invincible #1 (January, 2003)

Growing up with the world’s most renowned superhero as his father, Mark found an inspiration close to home in none other than Omni-Man. As he began to discover his own powers, Mark yearned to win Omni-Man’s approval, unaware that Omni-Man was using this chance to strip away the facade and reveal to Mark the true nature of a Viltrumite.

Although Omni-Man can’t revisit Earth due to the destruction he caused and the devastation he inflicted on his family, he is striving to make restitution by joining forces with the Coalition of Planets in order to eliminate the last surviving pure-blooded Viltrumites. Meanwhile, his son is learning from the teachings that Omni-Man left behind about how to vanquish their kind.

7. Bulletproof

The Perfect Back-Up Invincible

  • First Appearance: Invincible #9 (February, 2004)

Bulletproof shares similar abilities as Invincible, but they’re tainted by a heartrending history. Delving into his past might be a story better left untold for now. What matters is that Bulletproof stands by Mark and is a respected member of Guardians of the Globe. He consistently makes the right decisions, guided by strong morals, even when confronting the powerful Immortal.

In his own judgment, Bulletproof consistently does what’s justified, and when Mark found himself incapacitated as Invincible, Bulletproof was quick to assume the role of the renowned superhero temporarily. With his unique abilities and self-assuredness to tackle whatever tasks arose, he stepped into the spotlight. For the time being, though…

6. Cecil Stedman

The Head of the GDA Who Understands the Complexity of Protecting the World

  • First Appearance: Brit: Cold Death #1 (December, 2003)

Although Cecil Stedman may not always appear as Mark’s partner, there is no doubt that he stands firmly with him. They share a unified objective: preserving Earth from dangers both within and beyond it. With the approaching Viltrumite invasion, Cecil has intensified his reformation initiative for supervillains, granting permission to monstrous beings like Sinclair to continue developing ReAnimen, and permitting Darkwing 2 to rejoin the Guardians of the Globe.

Although Mark perceives Cecil’s alliance with villains as an enormous breach of trust, it’s naive and immature to believe so, considering that in truth, Cecil is providing a chance for redemption to those who could do right, which the world desperately needs now. Regardless of Mark’s threats, Cecil remains committed to helping people.

5. Allen the Alien

A Space-Faring Alien Who Grows Stronger with Each Fight

  • First Appearance: Invincible #5 (July, 2003)

Allen the Alien crossed paths with Invincible due to a misunderstanding about planets, but this didn’t hinder their swift friendship formation. When they encountered each other beyond Earth’s boundaries, Allen and Mark opted for conversation rather than confrontation, which left an indelible impression on Allen, as he had never previously encountered a friendly Viltrumite.

Allan has always been friends with Invincible, but now their bond has grown stronger due to his friendship with Nolan. As they journey through space together in search of weapons and allies capable of defeating the Viltrumites, it’s clear that both Allan and Nolan can rely on each other wholeheartedly.

4. Rex Splode

The Charismatic and Often Toxic Hero

  • First Appearance: Invincible #2 (February, 2003)

Initially, Rex Splode came across as a self-absorbed ladies’ man, but it wasn’t long before he understood the gravity and significance of his abilities within the hero groups he joined. Regardless of his flaws, Rex Splode emerged as the driving force and soul of the superhero teams he was part of, a fact that even Invincible recognized whenever they crossed paths.

Initially, Rex seems hostile toward Invincible, but eventually, he recognizes his mistake and forms a strong bond with Mark. This friendship runs so deep that Rex approves of Mark’s intentions to ask Atom Eve, his ex-girlfriend, out, demonstrating his concern for others’ feelings and willingness to make selfless decisions without hesitation.

3. Robot

The Hyper-Intelligent Human With a Plan to Save Everyone

  • First Appearance: Invincible #2 (February, 2003)

Rudy, also known as Rex now, is among, if not the most intelligent individuals globally. His numerous high-powered robots, referred to as Robot, are capable of handling some of the toughest conflicts that require the Guardians of the Globe’s intervention. Remarkably, they can do this without sustaining any damage, though it’s worth noting that his robots might get dented along the way.

The robot consistently employs its cognitive abilities in an attempt to unravel the seemingly unattainable, be it deciphering alien technology, devising strategies to thwart the Flaxan Dimension from intruding, or aiding Invincible in gaining strength. This robot proves invaluable due to its intellect, yet one may question whether its loyalty towards friends will consistently surpass its intellectual pursuits?

2. Oliver Grayson

Mark’s Half-brother Who Wants to be a Hero

  • First Appearance: Invincible #26 (September, 2005)

Oliver Grayson is a hybrid of two distinct species, Viltrumite and Thraxan. This unique mix results in him ageing much quicker than the average being. In the near future, Oliver will surpass Mark in age due to the accelerated aging trait found in Thraxan genetics. However, this rapid aging process will eventually be halted and replaced by the powerful Viltrumite DNA, which he also carries. Consequently, Oliver has already developed his abilities and demonstrated his readiness to act as a hero.

Although Oliver is young, he doesn’t hesitate to charge headlong into peril, disregarding some aspects of the value of life. However, his unwavering loyalty lies with his family, and he might find himself in deep trouble if it means assisting his brother in a seemingly hopeless battle.

1. Atom Eve

Mark’s Loyal Girlfriend Who Will Fight Alongside Him to the End of All Things

  • First Appearance: Invincible #2 (February, 2003)

Among all partners, there’s none greater for Mark than Atom Eve, the one he cherishes deeply, standing by his side through thick and thin. Being a hero isn’t an effortless task, and this is something Atom Eve understands well; yet, she also recognizes the unique challenges that fall upon Mark, who carries the weight of the world due to his Viltrumite lineage and the looming race that requires him to subdue Earth.

Rain or shine, Atom Eve will always be by Mark’s side, even if she’s hurt, because she wants him to feel secure – and them both to be safe. Their love is truly heartwarming, and the courage they display when they’re together, as a duo like Atom Eve and Invincible, serves as an inspiration for couples and heroes alike to behold.
