Gamers who enjoy horror titles and are seeking a game similar to ‘PT’ might want to explore the newly launched title, ‘Luto‘, now accessible on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. Though it’s brief and primarily serves as a sneak peek for the canceled Silent Hills project, ‘PT’ has left an indelible mark on the horror genre. Following the cancellation of Silent Hills, numerous developers have released games inspired by ‘PT’, with ‘Luto‘ being one of the latest examples in this trend.
If you haven’t played it before, PT is a chilling first-person horror demo created by Hideo Kojima, known for Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding. In this game, players find themselves walking through an eerie hallway that appears to go on forever, while being subjected to unsettling sounds and spectral figures. Its distinctive sense of dread has influenced numerous horror games since then. Unfortunately, PT was taken off the PlayStation Store some time ago, but it’s wonderful to see its influence carried forward in other projects.
It’s important to note that while Luto draws inspiration from the style and themes of PT, it is not a direct copy. Fans of the original game will appreciate its similarities, but Luto also offers a unique experience. With impressive review scores to back it up, the game is on its own merit. The game’s story revolves around a character trying to escape their house, but encounters strange occurrences and unsettling scenes along the way. Critics have praised Luto‘s psychological horror elements, compelling narrative, and innovative puzzles. With an 84 overall critic rating, Luto is one of the top-rated games of the year and one of the most acclaimed new horror releases in 2025 thus far.
Luto is a Terrifying New Horror Game Out Now
One reason why Luto is highly recommendable is its brief playtime. You can finish this game in less than 5 hours, making it a manageable choice for those who don’t want to invest too much time. It’s an ideal game for horror enthusiasts to complete within a weekend. Additionally, Luto offers a budget-friendly price of $19.99, with temporary discounts available. Until August 4, Steam users can grab the game for $17.99. For PS Plus subscribers, the game is offered at the same price if purchased by July 28 on their preferred platform. Unfortunately, it appears there’s no current discount for the Xbox version of the game.
Horror video games will keep drawing inspiration from the enigmatic game PT, while adding their unique twists. As fans eagerly anticipate what’s coming next in this genre and from Kojima, I highly recommend checking out the game Luto in the meantime.
