This post contains spoilers for One Piece.
In contrast to numerous shonen manga, One Piece distinguishes itself through its exploration of morality. A perfect illustration can be found in Doflamingo’s words on good and evil. Generally, people living within the One Piece universe view pirates as dangerous and immoral, while regarding Marines and the World Government as their protectors. They would deem a true hero to come from either of these institutions. Nevertheless, the truth paints a very different picture, with Oda subtly suggesting who the ultimate hero in One Piece might be.
Rocks D. Xebec’s Flashback Has Finally Started

Over these latest chapters, I’ve found myself absolutely thrilled to witness the daring exploits of none other than Rocks D. Xebec, the legendary pirate! For so long, he’s been a name whispered in tales, yet his visage remained shrouded in mystery… until now, during the Elbaf arc! Not only did Oda reveal Rocks’ face to us, but he also filled in some intriguing details about the pirate.
To start, it was confirmed that yes, Blackbeard is indeed the offspring of this elusive figure! For years, fans like myself have been speculating, and now our curiosity can finally find some rest as we know for certain that the Yonko is the son of Rocks D. Xebec! What a momentous revelation!
Previously, the manga hinted that Rocks was a man prone to destruction and chaos. However, recent chapters contradict this assumption. Although Rocks could be harsh, he wasn’t as sinister as Imu or Doflamingo. He earned the loyalty of his crew members by triumphing in Davy Black fights. Once he had gathered new companions, Rocks established his pirate group.
Rocks D. Xebec Could Have Been The Greatest Hero In One Piece
Rocks Wanted To Topple Imu
In One Piece Chapter 1155, the infamous Rocks D. Xebec pulled off an unprecedented act by launching an attack on Marijoa, resulting in the death of a Marine Admiral. On any ordinary day, this pirate’s murder of an Admiral would have been headline news. However, Rocks outdid himself by accomplishing something even more astonishing: he breached the Chamber of Flowers, where he encountered both Imu and Gunko.
Although Rocks didn’t engage in combat with Imu directly, he made it clear that he would return to confront him. The location, being the Chamber of Flowers, was a secret to the public, but enthusiasts are aware of his infiltration.
In a remarkably audacious move, Rocks took actions that were nothing short of astonishing. He dared to intrude into Imu’s domain and even dared to threaten the head of the World Government. However, Rocks was well aware of his disadvantage against Imu and chose to leave. His objective was to gather powerful allies who would support him in his mission. To achieve this, he challenged the strongest fighters in Davy Back fights. Eight years after this incident, Rocks had successfully recruited several exceptional fighters, among them were:
- Whitebeard
- Shiki
- Miss Buckin
- Don Marlon
- Wang Zhi
- Ganzui
Despite already having numerous strong allies, Rocks felt the need for even more, hence his journey to Elbaf to enlist Harald.
You should join me Harald!!! —Rocks D. Xebec
With Rocks’ objective now proven, one can’t help but ponder how things might have unfolded had he succeeded. If Rocks had triumphed over Imu, the World Government would have crumbled, freeing its subjects from their oppressive rule. Such a deed would have undoubtedly catapulted Rocks into the annals of One Piece as the greatest hero, for he would have saved countless lives. This newfound knowledge only serves to make Roger and Garp’s actions at God Valley more puzzling. It appears that Roger was not powerful enough to defeat Rocks, hence his alliance with Garp, a Marine. Together, they brought down Rocks, eliminating the biggest threat to Imu’s plans.
Rocks D. Xebec Is One Of The Strongest Pirates In One Piece
Rocks Was Blessed With Immense Power

Regardless of the reasons driving Captain D. Xebec, it’s challenging to refute that he was undoubtedly one of the most formidable pirates during his time. Xebec overpowered numerous strong adversaries with sheer strength. Additionally, he boasted an impressive mastery of Haki and probably wielded a potent Devil Fruit.
Not only did he demolish the Barriers of Fairness with his might, but also it is proven that Rocks wielded his sword with unmatched skill, as his sword strikes possessed the force equivalent to a massive blow from a sledgehammer or a cannonball.
