In the thrilling game Killing Floor 3, you’ll encounter a diverse array of adversaries. Among these numerous Zed types, there are towering boss monsters that invariably appear at the close of each mission. Compared to other enemies, these bosses are significantly larger, more aggressive, and much harder to defeat. It will require a considerable amount of ammunition to fell one.
In this guide, we’ll explore strategies for defeating each boss in “Killing Floor 3,” a game that starts off relatively straightforward but can become challenging on higher difficulty levels, where you might find yourself overwhelmed or outmatched by bosses towards the end.
The Queen Crawler
Weaknesses | Heat, Biiological |
Weak Spots | Head, Inner Mouth, Glowing Pustules |
As a devoted gamer, I must admit that this boss seems remarkably approachable compared to others in the game thus far. However, don’t let its seeming simplicity fool you, as it remains just as dangerous. The Queen Crawler is relentless in her pursuit of players and continually spawns Crawler larvae. The pressure she exerts on a single player can be overwhelming, and finding oneself cornered or trapped in a confined space with the queen and her offspring is a recipe for disaster – it’s like being caught between a rock and an incredibly deadly crawler!
It’s fortunate that the Queen Crawler lacks any armor, so you can effectively damage it anywhere. What makes this boss particularly advantageous is its larger, more accessible weak spots compared to other bosses. Essentially, when battling the Queen Crawler, your strategy should be to maintain a safe distance and continuously fire at its mouth until it’s defeated.
How to Beat Queen Crawler
- You cannot outrun the Queen Crawler. Use verticality (ziplines and ledge mantling) to your advantage.
- Slide down ramps. This is much faster than sprinting, and doing so will be enough to make space between you and the queen.
- Kill it with fire. If you don’t want to use Firebug weapons, you can always mod your guns in KF3 to fire Incendiary Rounds.
The Impaler
Weaknesses | Acid, Force, Electric |
Weak Spots | Head, Forearm Cores, Back Cores |
Similar to the Queen Crawler, the Impaler is known for swiftly charging and attacking with its retractable head blade. Being a nimble boss, the Impaler can quickly outmaneuver players attempting to flee, making it wiser to confront it head-on rather than trying to escape.
When Impalers sport noticeable, luminescent vulnerable areas, these are concealed under armor plating. Ammunition such as Overpressured, Armor Piercing, and Acid can penetrate its metallic casing with greater ease. To keep the boss from leaping about so much, arm yourself with Electric ammo to stun it frequently.
How to Beat Impalers
- Shoot the forearms first. Breaking the Impaler’s forearm cores will prevent it from firing missiles later on.
- Watch its head. The direction of the Impaler’s head indicates how it’s going to attack. If it moves back, dodge sideways. If it moves to the side, dodge backwards.
- Make full use of Zed Time. Hitting the Impaler’s forearms will build your Zed Time meter, and when it activates, use your time in slow motion to shoot the cores on the boss’ back.
The Chimera
Weaknesses | Force, Cold |
Weak Spots | Head, Forearm Cores, Back Cores |
In the game KF3, the Chimera is a formidable foe that poses a challenge for all character classes. This is primarily due to its ability to make it difficult to dodge its attacks. It employs both ranged and close-combat attacks, and further complicates matters by summoning Mire Cysts that swarm players during the fight. To add to the difficulty, Chimeras are armored heavily, making them virtually invulnerable to standard bullets.
The most effective method for defeating a Chimera is to aim at its tentacle-filled face, as this area isn’t armored and will sustain full damage from your attacks. When the boss has half of its health remaining, it sheds its armor and reveals glowing weak spots on its arms and body. Attack these vulnerable spots when they appear, but otherwise, focus on the face.
How to Beat Impalers
- Shoot down Mire Globes. When the Impaler launches yellow orbs at you, you can shoot them down to prevent Mire Cysts from spawning.
- Use Turrets. Bring a Multi-Tool and activate a sentry to help deal with Mire Cysts.
- Mind your positioning. Ideally, there should always be something between you and the Chimera, so its ranged attacks don’t hit you
