Fans of the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) Pocket edition have already spotted a potentially troublesome combination in the upcoming Wisdom of Sea and Sky set, and on paper, it appears just as frustrating as DarkTina. If this predicted interaction works as anticipated, the meta-game of the Pokémon TCG Pocket could experience a significant change.
In the last four expansion packs of the Pokémon Trading Card Game (Pokémon TCG), Giratina EX and Darktina EX have been the undisputed rulers. Due to their extremely powerful cooperation, they’ve earned quite a few complaints from players who find them frustratingly difficult to beat. Yet, there might be a new threat emerging in the A4 set, as it appears that this upcoming release could introduce a potentially harmful combination capable of defeating even the strongest Pokémon within just one turn.
As a devoted fan, I’ve been intrigued by the anticipated duo that pairs up Pokemon Xatu from the Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Wisdom of Sea and Sky set, and the Supporter card Will. The latest leak has given us a sneak peek into their powers. With just two Energy cards and a successful flip of a coin, Xatu can reduce the Active Pokemon of my opponent to a mere 10 HP. Meanwhile, Will ensures that my next coin flip comes up heads, making it certain that Xatu’s special ability will activate. When I have Xatu active on the field and Will in my hand, it leaves my opponent with few options to dodge the massive damage that Xatu’s low HP can inflict, which should prove to be a crushing blow.
Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Xatu-Will Combo Explained
- Xatu: Drops the enemy’s HP to 10 after a successful coin flip
- Will: Guarantees that the next coin flip is going to land heads
In simpler terms, Xatu struggles with dealing damage, so when its ability is activated using Will, you’ll need an additional method to defeat a foe with only 10 HP. One solution could be utilizing cards like Rocky Helmet from the Pokemon TCG Pocket set or Greninja, a popular sniper Pokemon. The Rocky Helmet inflicts 20 damage onto the attacking opponent each time they hit Xatu, which can lead to their defeat. On the other hand, Greninja can deal 20 damage from the Bench, providing another dependable means of finishing off the enemy.
Numerous supporters anticipate that Xatu will excel in a deck together with the upcoming Fire-type Pokemon, Typhlosion. This fresh card allows the player to inflict the ‘Burned’ status on the opponent once per turn, causing 20 damage passively until they roll a coin that comes up heads. In this configuration, Typhlosion remains on the Bench as Xatu occupies the Active Spot. Prior to reducing the enemy’s HP to 10, Typhlosion inflicts ‘Burned’, ensuring a knockout in the same turn.
In addition to the popular Xatu-Will combination, fans believe that the new Supporter card Will in Pokemon TCG Pocket could also make Tinkaton EX a force to reckon with in the meta. A lucky coin flip increases Tinkaton EX’s damage by 80, resulting in a significant 160. Furthermore, the newly introduced Steel Apron Pokemon Tool is anticipated to work well with the Steel-type EX as it reduces the amount of damage it takes and safeguards it against all special statuses. It remains to be seen if these predicted combinations and powerful synergies will alter the current meta, but with the new set due soon, we won’t have to wait much longer.
