Okay, so the free PS Plus games for January – Need for Speed Unbound, Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, and Core Keeper – didn’t exactly blow everyone away, but I gotta admit, they at least tried to give us a little variety with different types of gameplay. Players recently expressed frustration with Borderlands 4 after the popular Seasons Lootings event ended. During the holidays, Gearbox boosted the rate at which rare and powerful gear dropped, giving players a great chance to find awesome loot. When the event concluded on January 8th, the drop rates returned to normal, which upset many fans who enjoyed the increased rewards. Gearbox acknowledged the positive feedback and said they were exploring ways to permanently increase drop rates, but couldn’t share any specifics yet.

Work on Hytale started way back in 2015, but it wasn’t officially announced until 2018 with a popular trailer that gained over 60 million views and sparked a lot of online discussion. Hypixel Studios continued developing the game for several years, and in 2020, they were acquired by Riot Games, the creators of League of Legends. Unfortunately, things took a turn last year when Riot unexpectedly canceled Hytale and stopped development. The studio explained that the game was simply too ambitious in scope, and Riot worried it might never be completed.
