As we speak, those who own the Nintendo Switch 2 can anticipate at least four additional exclusive games coming their way by the year 2025. There might even be more releases before the end of the year. The Nintendo Switch 2 made a splashy debut with the hit launch title Mario Kart World, and the popular game Donkey Kong Bananza has continued to captivate players. Yet, fans of the Switch 2 might be curious about what’s in store for future exclusive games.
It was thought that the July 2025 Nintendo Direct would shed light on upcoming games. However, instead of a regular Nintendo Direct featuring first-party games, they organized a Partner Showcase, which spotlighted third-party games being developed for both Switch and Switch 2. As the release dates for 2025’s Nintendo games are yet to be announced, there might be another Nintendo Direct happening sooner, but in the interim, Nintendo’s recent financial report showcased four exclusive games coming soon for Switch 2 enthusiasts.
Starting from August 14, the next exclusive game for Switch 2 will be Drag x Drive. Then, on August 28, Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World will follow. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is slated for winter 2025, and Kirby Air Riders has a tentative release window in 2025 as well. Assuming no delays, Switch 2 enthusiasts can anticipate all four games to be released before the end of this year.
Upcoming Switch 2 Exclusives for 2025
- Drag x Drive – August 14
- Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World – August 28
- Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment – Winter 2025
- Kirby Air Riders – TBA 2025
As a gamer, I’m excited about diving into the world of Drag x Drive, a thrilling 3v3 online multiplayer basketball game set in the future. Instead of traditional courts, we roll our wheelchairs around futuristic arenas! The unique control scheme, using Joy-Con 2’s mouse controls, adds an extra layer of challenge to this promising game. It might still be up for debate whether it will be a hit or miss, but at just $19.99, it’s definitely worth a shot!
On the other hand, Kirby and the Forgotten Land is an enhanced version of its predecessor on the Switch, but what sets it apart is the exclusive Star-Crossed World expansion for the new Switch 2. Compared to upcoming games like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokemon Legends: Z-A that offer Switch 2 enhancements, Kirby has the edge with Switch 2-specific content. So if you’re a proud owner of the latest Nintendo console, this game is definitely more substantial for you!
The new release, “Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment“, continues the blend of the “Zelda” and “Dynasty Warriors” franchises. Players can anticipate the same style of gameplay as before, featuring expansive battlefields teeming with numerous enemies and the ability to vanquish them with flamboyant moves. What sets “Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment” apart from its predecessors is that its storyline will be considered canon. It serves as a prequel to “Tears of the Kingdom“, and while its gameplay may require some getting used to, it certainly looks intriguing.
The game that fans know least about as an exclusive for the upcoming Switch 2 in 2025 is Kirby Air Riders, a sequel to the underappreciated racing game from the GameCube era. Although we know that Masahiro Sakurai is directing it, there’s still much mystery surrounding
