Fans of Black Myth: Wukong might catch a glimpse of what’s to come in the game’s upcoming DLC during the Gamescom Opening Night Live event on August 19. Although Game Science, the developer behind the game, has already confirmed the existence of the DLC, details about its content have been scarce for Black Myth: Wukong players. However, this may all change in the coming week.
In 2024, the highly anticipated game, Black Myth: Wukong, sold an astonishing 20 million units worldwide within its first month, making it one of the fastest-selling games ever. Often described as the inaugural AAA title from China’s gaming industry, this phenomenal success extended beyond borders but had a particularly significant impact in its home country, enhancing PS5 sales in China and sparking increased interest in the region for tourism. Initially available on PC and PS5, Black Myth: Wukong will extend its reach to Xbox Series X/S on August 20, offering even more gamers a chance to experience the critically acclaimed action RPG that draws inspiration from the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West. For those who have already completed the game, additional content is in development, and details about the intriguing DLC may soon be revealed.
Black Myth: Wukong DLC May Be Shown During Gamescom Opening Night Live
Developer Game Science has shared on Twitter that they will participate in Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 19, with the event starting at 11 AM Pacific Time or 2 PM Eastern Time. Although the announcement doesn’t provide specifics about what will be showcased, an accompanying artwork suggests it might be related to the upcoming DLC for Black Myth: Wukong. In the comments, a fan translated the Chinese text in the image, suggesting it reads “The extraordinary becomes ordinary in this world; ‘gods and devils’ often wear respectable attire.” Furthermore, many believe that this event could serve as an excellent platform for Game Science to reveal more information about the DLC, as Black Myth: Wukong turns one on August 20.
It’s been confirmed that “Black Myth: Wukong” will offer 81 achievements on Xbox consoles, which is significantly more than twice as many as the trophies available on PlayStation. The game’s arrival on Microsoft’s platforms has been anticipated for a while, with the CEO of Game Science explaining that the hold-up was mainly due to the difficulty in optimizing “Black Myth: Wukong” for the Xbox Series S.

At Gamescom 2025, I’m hyped to be part of history’s biggest gaming extravaganza! Over 1,500 exhibitors are set to showcase their stuff, and some heavy-hitters like Resident Evil Requiem, Ghost of Yotei, and Ninja Gaiden 4 have already been confirmed for Opening Night Live. But there’s one indie gem that might just steal the spotlight – Hollow Knight: Silksong!
I can hardly contain my excitement because they’ll be offering a playable demo during the event, and I’ve got my fingers crossed for a release date announcement. Fingers crossed, fellow gamers!
