At Gamescom Opening Night Live, Capcom and Square Enix jointly declared that they would coordinate a crossover event for their popular games, Monster Hunter Rise and Final Fantasy XIV, later this year. Coinciding with the release of its third Title Update, these companies unveiled plans to add a significant amount of Final Fantasy XIV-themed content to Monster Hunter Rise in September. This new content will comprise various cosmetic skins for the game’s Seikret mounts modeled after Chocobos from Final Fantasy XIV, a unique Cactuar, and an intriguing storyline quest centered around the formidable superboss Omega Planetes from Final Fantasy XIV.
After approximately three weeks following the initial collaboration launch, Final Fantasy 14 will introduce unique content inspired by Monster Hunter World. In the early days of October, those who complete the Dawntrail expansion will face off against Arkveld, one of the most notable monsters from the game, in a Trial raid battle. Moreover, players can acquire Secret mounts within the game. Although the content for these crossover events is thrilling, it seems that the collaboration with Monster Hunter World could have been more appealing if it had incorporated creatures from another Final Fantasy title instead.
Final Fantasy 14 players will need to reach Lv. 100 in order to take on the Arkveld raid fight.
Monster Hunter Wilds Should Have Collaborated With FF16 Instead of FF14

Final Fantasy 16 Has Some of the Best Monster Designs and Bosses in the Franchise
In terms of impressive beast characters, the Final Fantasy series doesn’t fall short, boasting creatures that seem perfectly suited for a Monster Hunter video game. Among the more recent releases, though, it’s clear that Final Fantasy 16, launched exclusively on PlayStation 5 in 2023, takes the crown for its extraordinary beast designs. Despite being a somewhat contentious game with mixed opinions, critics generally enjoyed the main game, but some players found issues with its streamlined combat system, inconsistent pacing, and less-than-engaging side quests. However, the epic boss battles in this game were widely acclaimed by both players and reviewers alike.

The battles against bosses in Final Fantasy 16 are known for their spectacular and lavish presentations, even if they may not be particularly challenging from a gameplay perspective. These encounters stand out as among the most memorable in the entire Final Fantasy series. Similarly, the common enemies in Final Fantasy 16 are impressive too, with unique variations of classic characters like Morbol, Coeurl, and Ahriman that set them apart as some of the most distinctive versions in the series.

Clive Rosfield Should Have Been Added to MH Wilds, Just Like Geralt Was Added to MH: World
The monsters of Final Fantasy 16 could seamlessly blend into Monster Hunter World, and its main character, Clive Rosfield, might be an excellent addition to the game as well, considering his frequent monster slaying. Given that he essentially plays the role of a Monster Hunter without the title, it’s plausible to consider him as a playable character in Capcom’s latest RPG. Although incorporating a protagonist from another franchise into a Monster Hunter game might seem unusual, it’s worth mentioning that Capcom has already taken this approach previously.

2019 saw Capcom partnering with CD Projekt Red to incorporate Geralt of Rivia, the star character from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, into Monster Hunter: World. This collaboration, introduced in Patch 6.0, brought a fresh quest for players, allowing them to embody Geralt and battle creatures from the Witcher universe. If Capcom had collaborated with Square Enix for Final Fantasy 16, instead of Final Fantasy 14, they could have introduced Clive Rosfield in a similar fashion. Regrettably, it appears that such a collaboration isn’t on the horizon at the moment.
