On January 22nd, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade became available on the Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S. While the game originally launched on PlayStation 4 six years prior, this release ended its period of being exclusive to PlayStation consoles. Before the Switch 2 and Xbox launch, Square Enix announced that the complete Final Fantasy 7 Remake series – including Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and the currently untitled third game – will also be released on these platforms in the future.

Cloud is the main character and a very adaptable fighter. He has a lot of health and magical power, making him effective as both a physical attacker and a spellcaster – players can choose how to play him. In battle, Cloud uses broadswords and can hit multiple enemies at once. He also has two different fighting styles: Operator, which is well-rounded, and Punisher, which sacrifices speed for stronger attacks and the ability to deflect close-range attacks.

I’ve also included a breakdown of what all those icons on the map mean once you start exploring and uncovering different areas. It’s super helpful to know what each one represents!

Once you’ve created your character in Code Vein 2, you’re not stuck with your initial appearance. You can change it later if you want a different look, but you’ll need to unlock the feature first.

It’s hard to talk about Hytale without mentioning Minecraft, considering the developers at Hypixel Studios originally became known for making Minecraft modifications. While Hytale still uses the basic gameplay style of Minecraft, it simplifies some things – like crafting, where you don’t need to worry about precise patterns on a crafting table. Hytale does a great job making crafting feel smooth, but I think its ore smelting feels less refined than Minecraft’s system, which has been well-established for over 15 years.

Other defensive options include blocking and dodging.

In Code Vein 2, parrying isn’t available right away. It’s tied to a shield you can find early on, but unlocking the parry ability itself requires a specific, and somewhat hidden, action. This design choice is a bit unusual for a game inspired by the Souls series, and it means many players could complete the entire game without ever discovering parrying.

While it seems straightforward, this task is surprisingly challenging and takes a lot of time. The biggest difficulty is that the game doesn’t clearly show how well your relationships are developing – there’s no progress bar or counter. Despite this, there is a way to track your progress in building bonds within Code Vein 2.
