Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Reveal Legendary Distribution Event

Okay, so awesome news for anyone playing Pokemon Scarlet or Violet! You can snag a free, shiny Chi-Yu, but you’ve gotta do it before September 30th. Basically, these special events are how Game Freak lets us get our hands on Pokemon that are super rare or just not normally found while playing the game. They usually give them out through codes, passwords, or special in-game events, so keep an eye out!

Chi-Yu is one of the four Legendary PokĆ©mon featured in *PokĆ©mon Scarlet and Violet*. It looks like a fish with jade beads and dark, orb-like eyes. Despite its appearance, Chi-Yu is a Dark and Fire-type PokĆ©mon, and its body can reach temperatures exceeding 3,000Ā°C! Interestingly, the fish-like body isnā€™t its true form-the real Chi-Yu *is* the jade beads that serve as its eyes. These beads are so coveted that theyā€™ve sparked wars throughout history. Chi-Yu is a unique PokĆ©mon with a fascinating backstory and design. For a limited time, players of *PokĆ©mon Scarlet and Violet* can obtain a special version of it.

How to Claim a Shiny Chi-Yu in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

  • Launch Pokemon Scarlet or Pokemon Violet.
  • Select Poke Portal on the X menu.
  • Select Mystery Gift, then select Get via Internet to connect to the internet.
  • Choose the wanted gift.
  • Watch as the gift arrives in-game.
  • Save the game.

A free event is now live in *Pokemon Scarlet and Violet* to receive a special, shiny Chi-Yu! You can claim it until Tuesday, September 30th at 4:59 PM Pacific Time. This Legendary Pokemon will be level 75, come in a Cherish Ball with a Classic Ribbon, and have the Beads of Ruin ability, a modest nature, and the Fire Tera Type. It will know the moves Heat Wave, Dark Pulse, Snarl, and Flamethrower, but won’t be holding any item.

To get the special, shiny Chi-Yu in *PokĆ©mon Scarlet and Violet*, open the game and go to the Poke Portal via the X menu. Then, select Mystery Gift and choose “Get via Internet” to receive Chi-Yu. As a bonus, to celebrate over 1 million completed shiny Chi-Yu raids, players will also receive 100 each of Fire, Electric, Psychic, and Fighting Tera Shards, thanks to the more than 2 million Chi-Yu raids that have taken place.

Though Chi-Yu is the newest free PokƩmon available, trainers can still get other free PokƩmon! Until September 30th, players can claim a shiny Chien-Pao, along with special Tera Shards. Shiny versions of Ting-Lu and Wo-Chien, and their corresponding Tera Shards, are also available until September 30th, as a celebration of all four PokƩmon reaching the same milestones in raids.
