Stardew Valley Update 1.7’s Ideal Release Date Seems Obvious

Since its release, *Stardew Valley* has become incredibly popular and is now considered one of the most successful independent games ever made. Developed entirely by Eric Barone, the game continues to attract players of all types thanks to its delightful world and engaging gameplay, making it a much-loved farming simulator and a standout title of the 21st century.

Last year, the developer of *Stardew Valley*, ConcernedApe, released the major 1.6 update with lots of new features. Many people thought he would then focus on his next game, *Haunted Chocolatier*, after such a big addition to *Stardew Valley*. However, it looks like he’s continuing to work on *Stardew Valley*, with update 1.7 planned for release. While it might not happen, a likely release date is becoming clear.

Stardew Valley’s 10th Anniversary is Right Around the Corner, Paving the Way for the Perfect 1.7 Launch

  • Stardew Valley turns 10-years-old on February 26, 2026.

Released in 2016, *Stardew Valley* is approaching its 10th anniversary since launch – a remarkable achievement for an independent game. Many games quickly fade into obscurity, but *Stardew Valley* has consistently grown and attracted new players thanks to ongoing updates. While update 1.7 is confirmed, the developer, Barone, isn’t ready to announce a release date and has cautioned that it could take a significant amount of time. Ideally, update 1.7 would launch in time to celebrate the game’s 10th anniversary.

Reaching a 10th anniversary is a big achievement for any game, and with *Stardew Valley* continuing to gain popularity, it’s hard to predict how many more copies it will sell in the years to come. However, it’s unlikely that update 1.7 will launch on the game’s 10th anniversary. The developer, Barone, has stated that he and his team are taking their time to make sure the update is polished and high-quality.

So, I’ve been following *Stardew Valley* for a while now, and it’s amazing to think that Eric Barone originally made the whole thing himself! But since update 1.3, he’s started working with a small team to help him out with all the new content. It’s cool to see him getting some support while still keeping the heart of the game the same.

Barone is Currently Balancing Two Projects

Eric Barone, the creator of *Stardew Valley*, is currently very busy with both the 1.7 update for *Stardew Valley* and his new game, *Haunted Chocolatier*. He recently explained in a blog post that he’s taking on more of a leadership role with the 1.7 update so he can dedicate most of his time to developing *Haunted Chocolatier*.

In a recent blog post, Eric Barone, the creator of *Stardew Valley*, indicated that new content for the game is likely still a ways off. He explained that because they aren’t announcing a release date for the 1.7 update, it’s hard to say when it will arrive – it could even be after his other game, *Haunted Chocolatier*, is finished. This suggests that the 1.7 update might not be ready for quite some time, based on what Barone has shared about the progress of *Haunted Chocolatier*.

Stardew Valley has sold over 41 million copies.

With 1.7, I have been trying to take more of a ‘creative director’ role in the team.

Stardew Valley Can Still Celebrate its First Decade in Big Ways

It’s unclear if the creator of *Stardew Valley*, ConcernedApe, will do anything special to celebrate the game’s upcoming anniversary. However, it would be a great opportunity to share news about things other than the 1.7 update. He and the team might offer more details about the update itself, or even release a new trailer for *Haunted Chocolatier*. We’ll have to wait and see, but whatever they’re working on is likely to be exciting.
