Global CrowdStrike Outage Sparks Unusual Meme Frenzy

As a seasoned crypto investor with years of experience under my belt, I’ve seen my fair share of market fluctuations and meme coin phenomena. But this recent reported universal internet outage that caused chaos in various industries has taken things to a whole new level.

A widespread report of an internet outage has caused significant disruptions to various real-world systems, resulting in an unexpected surge of meme activity. Most notably, meme coins inspired by CrowdStrike and Microsoft’s “Blue Screen of Death” (BSoD) error have taken over the Ethereum and Solana blockchains.

CrowdStrike: Widespread impact on services

As a researcher studying computer usage trends, I’ve come across disturbing data from a recent report. Millions of Windows users worldwide encountered an unexpected issue that resulted in the Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) error. This problem causes a computer system running on Windows to suddenly restart or even shut down abruptly.

The software glitch has disrupted schedules and caused significant issues for various industries, including stock exchanges, railways, and airlines. Bloomberg tech journalist Olivia Solon reported that passengers at London’s Heathrow Airport were advised to “double-check their gate numbers on Google” due to the prevalence of blue screens in the terminal.

In spite of numerous system failures affecting many, no crypto businesses or companies have reported problems with their digital platforms.

Meme coins capitalizing on outage

In an attempt to capitalize on the significant software malfunction, tokens associated with STRIKE, CrowdStrike, BSoD, Microsoft, and bluescreenofdeath have emerged. Currently, these tokens are in circulation as per DEXTools and DEXScreener data.

It’s intriguing that certain cryptocurrency tokens boast liquidity equivalent to $50,000 in stablecoins and boast paper market capitalizations of $1 million. With Microsoft and CrowdStrike being popular topics right now, the crypto community is eager to capitalize on this trend as much as possible.

On robust bases that underpin Shiba Inu and Dogecoin, the meme coin generator Pump Fun, which operates on the Solana platform, saw users create hundreds of humorous references to Microsoft and CrowdStrike. While the excitement surrounding these memes may wane in the coming days, creators and initial investors have historically reaped substantial profits before their trending worth diminishes.
