Skyrim Grandma is Retiring Again

Shirley Curry, known as Skyrim Grandma, has announced she’s taking a break from creating The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim videos. This is disappointing news for her followers, but the content creator says she’s feeling worn out and isn’t enjoying playing Skyrim as much anymore.

Shirley Curry, famously known as the Skyrim Grandma, is an 89-year-old who began sharing Skyrim gameplay videos online in 2015 and quickly gained a large following. Her channel now has over 1.3 million subscribers, and she’s uploaded more than a thousand Skyrim videos over the past ten years, creating a dedicated fanbase. However, the Skyrim Grandma doesn’t appear to be quite as enthusiastic about playing Skyrim now as she once was.

Skyrim Grandma Retires Due to ‘Not Having Fun Anymore’

In her latest video, Curry announced she is retiring again. She explained she’s grown tired of creating Skyrim videos and simply isn’t enjoying it anymore. Curry noted she still has some long-time, loyal viewers, but many of her current viewers appear to be “very young kids” who don’t offer any comments or feedback on her content, and that this isn’t “what I was spending my time on making and uploading videos for.” Although she’s stepping back from making Skyrim gameplay videos, Curry plans to stay connected with her fanbase by occasionally uploading vlogs.

This isn’t the first time Skyrim Grandma has retired. Curry initially decided to stop making videos last year. Back then, Curry explained she was feeling burnt out from managing the channel and wanted to focus on other interests and reduce her screen time.

At the beginning of the year, Skyrim Grandma briefly came out of retirement to play Oblivion Remastered. Unfortunately, she only made three videos of the game before returning to her regular Skyrim gameplay videos. Whether Curry will post Skyrim videos on the channel again is uncertain, but given her past activity, many fans remain hopeful for a comeback.

Even if Shirley Curry stops making Skyrim videos, she’s already become a legend in the Elder Scrolls world! The fans really came through, starting petitions to get her *into* Elder Scrolls 6 as a character, and Bethesda actually listened! When that long-awaited open-world RPG finally drops, we’ll get to meet the Skyrim Grandma as an NPC. It’s awesome! But, let’s be real, we might still have a bit of a wait before the game is finally out.
