ROG Xbox Ally X Appears in the Wild 2 Weeks Ahead of Official Launch

Some fortunate gamers are reporting that their Asus ROG Xbox Ally X has arrived – over two weeks before the official launch! Both the ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X are slated for release on October 16.

Since entering the handheld gaming PC market in 2023, Asus has quickly released two versions of the ROG Ally, and a third model is coming out shortly. But this next device is different – it’s a collaboration. In June, Asus announced that Xbox was joining them to create the ROG Xbox Ally and a more powerful version, the ROG Xbox Ally X. Since then, the two companies have been sharing small updates with potential buyers about this Windows-based handheld.

ROG Xbox Ally X Gets Delivered Before Release Date to Some Buyers

Several Reddit users-at least four-report receiving their pre-ordered ROG Xbox Ally X units 15 days before the official release. User IAm-WilliAm- shared a photo of the sealed box as proof, while hmika59 even posted a picture of themselves holding the device, describing it as lightweight, comfortable, and similar to an Xbox controller. Technical_Fun77 went further, sharing a brief review after “a few hours” of use, praising the ergonomics, battery life, and the new Xbox fullscreen mode. It appears that Amazon France is responsible for these early deliveries, as all these users received their units from there.

The ROG Xbox Ally X recently gained attention for quickly selling out globally on the Xbox Store. As the most powerful version, it’s not surprising that this model is in high demand. Based on early feedback from fans, the Asus/Xbox handheld gaming PC seems promising. However, since customer reviews aren’t always trustworthy or objective, it’s wise to wait for professional reviews to get a more accurate assessment of the ROG Xbox Ally X’s overall quality.

Considering its stated aim to appeal to both new and experienced gamers, ROG Xbox Ally’s objectives are quite ambitious. Enhanced by key new features – like comfortable, controller-style grips and a full-screen display – Asus’ newest device may be more successful in achieving this than previous models. It will be fascinating to observe, over time, how this Xbox-branded Asus device stacks up against competitors such as the Steam Deck OLED, Legion Go, MSI Claw, and others.
