All Legendary items in Borderlands 4 are designed to make players more powerful, but obtaining them often comes with a risk – and sometimes, death. One example is Genone, a hidden boss that players can encounter through a Side Mission while searching for loot. We’ve detailed where to find Genone and what Legendary items he drops, so you can decide if he’s worth the effort or better left alone.
How to Find Genone in Borderlands 4
Genone Location & Yawning Yard Walkthrough
Once players finish the “Fault Hunting” Side Mission – available from Carcadia in Cascadia Burn – they can begin farming Genone. You can start this mission by finding a bounty posted on the wall in Carcadia, or by going directly to the Society for Amateur Seismology Enthusiasts in the Ruined Sumplands and speaking with Leopold to accept the quest. Completing the mission will unlock access to Genone’s facility.

After finishing the Fault Hunting quest, players can go back to where Genone is located. They need to find the bunker hidden below the cliff in The Yawning Yard, which is in Lopside. Once inside the facility, they’ll discover Moxxi’s Encore, letting them buy a replay of the boss fight so they can farm him as many times as they want.
How to Beat Genone (& Legendary Drops) in Borderlands 4
All Loot Drops from Genone

| Legendary | Type | Special Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Oscar Mike | Assault Rifle | Space Laser – Alt-Fire calls down a Space Laser, dealing damage every .2 seconds. Fragcendiary Grenades – Alt-Fire launches Grenades that deal incendiary damage and spawn a Fire Hazard. |
| Recursive | Grenade | Looping. |
Genone’s available loot isn’t extensive, but what is available is quite powerful. Players should prioritize farming for the Oscar Mike Assault Rifle, as it has two potential special effects. The more valuable of these is the Space Laser Alt-Fire mode. This allows players to call down a Space Laser that deals damage every .2 seconds, and with the right character build, it can quickly defeat bosses.
Genone is a relatively simple boss fight. His first health bar is a Shield, which can be quickly defeated using Shock attacks. His second health bar is Armor, so Corrosive or Cryo damage will work best. Although Genone has support from his Order troops, they’re not difficult to eliminate. Genone’s attacks deal splash damage, but you can easily avoid taking damage by staying mobile.
