Is Focused Hearing in Ghost of Yotei?

Ghost of Tsushima had a great ability called Focused Hearing, which allowed Jin to sharpen his senses and see enemies even through walls. While Atsu doesn’t naturally have this ability, don’t worry! Focused Hearing is available in Ghost of Yotei, but getting it is a little more involved than it was before. Here’s a guide on how to unlock Focused Hearing and use it to defeat Saito’s Outlaws and cleanse the blight in Ezo.

How to Get Focused Hearing in Ghost of Yotei

You can unlock Focused Hearing by playing through The Kitsune Main Tale, which you’ll find in the Teshio Ridge. To begin the Kitsune Tale, head north from the Grasslands. As you advance through this quest, you’ll arrive at the Old Graveyard with Oyuki for the “The Tale of the Kitsune” section. During this mission, you’ll unlock Focused Hearing, which is now called Listen. You won’t be able to use the Listen ability before completing this mission, so if you’re deciding between going to the Oni or the Kitsune at the beginning of the game (after the Old Inn), it might be beneficial to start with the Kitsune to get this ability early. Keep in mind, though, that the Kitsune quest can be quite challenging, so we recommend waiting before tackling it.

How to Use Focused Hearing in Ghost of Yotei

Focused Hearing is now called Listen in Ghost of Yotei. To activate Listen, players need to hold down the R3 button while crouching, which narrows their vision but shows enemies as white highlights. While not as strong as Jin’s ability in Ghost of Tsushima, it’s still helpful for sneaking into enemy camps. Atsu can use it to get a general idea of where enemies might be hiding and waiting to attack.
