Pokemon GO is hosting two exciting events in the mobile game. One event, the Festival of Lights, will be exclusive to players in India. However, all trainers globally can participate in an event commemorating the launch of Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A will be available starting October 16th. Building on the action-RPG style of the successful 2022 game Pokemon Legends: Arceus, this new installment offers a fresh look at Lumiose City in the Kalos Region. The story and gameplay will largely focus on uncovering the secrets of Mega Evolution.
Pokemon GO October 2025 Events and Dates
- Pokémon Legends: Z-A Celebration Event – October 16 at 10 AM through October 20 at 8 PM local time
 - Festival of Lights (India only) – October 18 at 10 AM through October 23 at 8 PM local time

To coincide with the release of Pokemon Legends: Z-A, Pokemon GO is holding a special Celebration Event. It begins at 10 AM local time on the game’s launch day and lasts until October 20. The event focuses on Mega Evolution, so players will see Mega Raids happening more often. Plus, there will be exclusive cosmetic items inspired by Lumiose City available in the shop.
Besides these perks, the Timed Research during the event will focus on the starter Pokemon Legends: Z-A Pokemon: Chikorita, Totodile, and Tepig. You’ll be able to encounter all three starters as rewards, along with a special Seasonal Background. The starter you pick first will show up more often when you use Daily Adventure Incense during the event. Keep in mind, like all Timed Research in Pokemon GO, you’ll need to finish the tasks and collect the rewards before the event ends. If you fully evolve any of these three starters during the event, they’ll learn a unique charged move: Meganium will learn Frenzy Plant, Feraligatr will learn Hydro Cannon, and Emboar will learn Blast Burn.
Alongside the global event, players in India can enjoy the return of the Festival of Lights from October 18th to 23rd. During this event, certain Pokémon – Ponyta, Chinchou, Volbeat, Litwick, Morelull, and Tadbulb – will appear more often when you use Incense, and they’ll all have a unique glow. Catching these Pokémon will earn you rewards like a Premium Raid Pass, Stardust, and XP. The event will also include two special Pokemon GO Pikachu versions dressed in a saree and kurta, available as rewards for completing Field Research or Timed Research tasks.
