In 2020, the game *Hades* became a huge hit, praised for its deep gameplay and the extensive, engaging conversations with its memorable cast of gods, immortals, and creatures from mythology. Now, five years later, *Hades 2* is out and is also receiving excellent reviews and strong sales. It builds on everything that made the first game great and expands upon it significantly.
The game has a great cast of both new and familiar characters. Many of them have amazing designs that really showcase Supergiant’s signature art style, which makes them perfect for cosplay. If you’re planning to cosplay as someone from Hades 2, here are some of the most recognizable and visually striking characters to consider.
Melinoƫ
The Star Of The Show
- Difficulty: Easy
The main character of *Hades 2* is MelinoĆ«. She’s the daughter of Hades and Persephone, and sister to Zagreus, the hero of the original *Hades*. MelinoĆ«’s design is relatively simple: she wears an orange dress and shoes, along with a metal belt, bracers, wrist guards, and a large choker. A headband featuring a metal crescent completes her look. She has short, wheat-blonde hair and wears forest green lipstick.
The most challenging aspects of this cosplay would be recreating MelinoĆ«’s many different weapons ā it depends on which of her six Nocturnal Arms the cosplayer chooses ā and her unique left arm. MelinoĆ«ās left arm appears semi-transparent, revealing her skeleton underneath. While accurately recreating this effect would be difficult, a simple solution would be to paint the arm green, and it would still be clearly recognizable as MelinoĆ«.
Hecate
The Witch Of The Crossroads

- Difficulty: Easy
In the game *Hades 2*, Hecate is a mentor and sort of a foster mother to MelinoĆ«. After Cronos attacked the Underworld, MelinoĆ« lost her parents and brother, and Hecate stepped in to care for her. Hecate is known for being wise, a skilled fighter, a powerful magic user, and while she’s strict, she deeply cares for MelinoĆ« and has a quick, clever sense of humor.
Hecate’s most recognizable feature is her large, wide-brimmed hat ā it’s unusually big and would probably need to be custom-made. She also wears a burgundy mask that hides most of her face, leaving only her striking green eyes visible. Her long, silver-green hair is braided down her back. Her outfit includes a burgundy top with silver accents, layered purple and burgundy skirts, and a silver belt and necklace decorated with crescent moons. A purple cape, held together by two silver crescent clasps, completes the look. While the green eyes could be achieved with contacts, and the hat is a challenge, the hardest part of this cosplay would be recreating Hecate’s incredibly fit stomach, which is visible above her belt. It might not be necessary for a good costume, but anyone aiming for complete accuracy would need to be in excellent shape.
Moros
The Personification Of Doom

- Difficulty: Medium
Moros, the older brother of Thanatos from the game *Hades*, represents doom and misfortune. Born to Nyx, heās a somewhat clumsy character who has trouble connecting with others. He finds a kindred spirit in MelinoĆ« and hopes she can help defeat Chronos, leading to a brighter future for both the Underworld and Olympus. Moros is also a great admirer of Odysseus, impressed by the king’s ability to avoid his fate multiple times.
Moros shares a similar appearance to Thanatos, with grey skin, long white hair, and purple eyes. He wears a black headband adorned with large, curving horns, through which his hair flows. Heās bare-chested but wears a traditional Egyptian shendyt ā a kilt ā around his waist, held up by a gold belt with colorful tassels. Gold armbands and a neck guard complete his look, and he carries a slender sword at his side. His shoulder armor is shaped like a skull, which will be the most challenging part of any costume. Overall, creating this cosplay will require significant effort, whether designing or buying each piece, from the skin tone and horned circlet to the shendyt and especially the unique sword.
Nemesis
Revenge In The Flesh

- Difficulty: Easy ā Medium
Nemesis, the daughter of Nyx and sister of Moros, embodies the concept of revenge. Sheās a rival to MelinoĆ«, frequently challenging her in battles. Nemesis is known for being direct, dismissive, and sometimes even harsh. She tends to act without thinking, which often causes problems for her, and although she realizes she can be hurtful, she rarely admits it.
Nemesis is impressively strong and physically imposing, with a build reminiscent of a powerful Amazon warrior. She’s much taller than most, and her well-defined muscles strain against her armor. She has long, dark hair, striking gold eyes, and golden wings on her head. Her outfit features red and gold details, large hoop earrings, and red nail polish. She carries a silver shield and the Stygian Bladeāa weapon fans will recognize from the game *Hades*. How challenging this cosplay is depends a lot on the cosplayer’s physique. While anyone can create a Nemesis costume with enough work, it will be easier for someone who is already tall and muscular, and naturally carries themselves with a strong, military-like stance. But that shouldn’t discourage anyone from trying ā cosplay is about transforming into a character and having fun!
Hestia
The Flame Of Olympus

- Difficulty: Hard
Hestia is the Greek goddess of fire and the home, and she’s MelinoĆ«’s great-aunt. While often seen as one of the gentler gods, Hestia has a fiery temper hidden beneath her warm exterior. She used to wield the incredibly powerful Adamant Rail, a weapon Zagreus also used in the game *Hades*. Despite what Demeter says, Hestia is actually the oldest of all the Olympian gods.
Creating a Hestia cosplay would be a real challenge, but incredibly striking if pulled off well. Her look is all about fire ā think orange and red clothing, and metal braziers worn around her waist and neck. Youād need to style orange, flame-like hair, red eyes, and even earrings resembling burning coals. The biggest hurdles would be her constantly burning headpiece and her fiery weapon ā even a simple, homemade version would take significant effort. The waist brazier would also be tricky to make comfortable and move in, unless it was designed to be flexible. Despite the difficulties, a successful Hestia cosplay would be truly spectacular.
Chronos
The Big Bad

- Difficulty: Easy
In *Hades 2*, the main villain is Chronos, the powerful Titan of Time and the father of major gods like Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades. This makes him the grandfather of the protagonist, MelinoĆ«. After escaping from his prison in Tartarus, Chronos attacked the Underworld, trapping Hades, Persephone, and Zagreus, which sets the game’s story in motion. MelinoĆ«’s driving purpose throughout her journey to restore her home is to defeat Chronos.
Chronos has a striking look inspired by ancient Egypt. He wears a white kilt-like garment, golden bracelets, and a golden collar with clock numbers displayed in Roman numerals. His skin is dark grey and covered in golden scars, and his eyes and short, slicked-back hair glow with a bright white light. He wields a golden scythe that extends in length during battle. Creating this cosplay will heavily rely on strong makeup and body painting skills, but the kilt, scythe, and collar will also require some crafting ability to look accurate.
Scylla
A Monstrous Performance

- Difficulty: Hard
Scylla is a sea monster with a tragic past. She used to be a nymph, but a witch turned her into the terrifying creature she is today. She’s often seen with a group of Sirens, who famously almost caused Odysseus’s death with their captivating songs. In the game *Hades 2*, Scylla is a bit unstable ā she’s fixated on performing for MelinoĆ« and firmly believes her band is incredibly famous.
Scylla’s seemingly unruly hair is actually a cluster of vibrant blue tentacles. Two of the longest ones fall like a shawl over her shoulders. She has pointed teeth, fins on her arms, and a striking red starfish on her chest. She carries a coral staff that she uses as a microphone. Scylla travels around the battlefield inside a massive clam shell decorated with eyes. Creating this cosplay would be incredibly difficult, from the complex tentacle hair to the sharp teeth. Building the moving clam shell would add another significant challenge, requiring both engineering skills and attention to visual detail.
Chaos
Primordial Essence

- Difficulty: Medium
Chaos represents the very first emptiness, the beginning from which everything originated, including the goddess Nyx and all her offspring. While not a parent in the usual way, Chaos is essentially their origin. They mostly watch MelinoĆ«ās journey, but will occasionally offer assistance⦠if sheās willing to pay the cost.
In the game *Hades 2*, the character Chaos has a new look compared to their almost monster-like appearance in *Hades*. They now appear as a more human-like figure with long, silver hair pulled back in a ponytail, secured by a golden halo decorated with a bright pink flower. They wear a robe that resembles a modern suit, complete with golden lapels, button-shaped like eyes, and faces sewn into the fabric. Their earring is a miniature Earth, a nod to their previous form. Instead of hands, they hold what appears to be their former head ā complete with spine and a fetus emerging from the mouth. While the overall cosplay isnāt overly complex, the intricate details ā like the robe and hair tie ā will be challenging to recreate and require careful craftsmanship. The head accessory presents its own set of difficulties, but it’s all achievable with enough dedication and effort.
Selene
The Power Of The Moon

- Difficulty: Easy
In *Hades 2*, Selene is a newly introduced Olympian goddess representing the Moon. She gives Melinoƫ special abilities called Hexes, which function like powerful Ultimate moves. These Hexes require building up Magic energy before they can be unleashed for devastating attacks. While Selene is more enigmatic than goddesses like Demeter and Hestia, she shares their ultimate goal: defeating Chronos.
Selene’s cosplay features striking white hair that flows like mist, bright gold eyes, and light blue lipstick. Her dress is also a pale blue, decorated with moons. The centerpiece of the costume is a large silver helmet shaped like a crescent moon, with a full moon design on top. Sheās meant to be riding a light blue Pegasus with silver moon details, but while the helmet takes some crafting, the Pegasus itself is an optional, ambitious addition. Selene is instantly recognizable even without the Pegasus.
