According to someone familiar with the industry, we might see more *Metroid Prime* games on the Nintendo Switch in the future. It’s currently unknown if these games will also be available on the next Nintendo console, the Switch 2. The first *Metroid Prime* came out in 2002 for the Gamecube and was recently updated and released for the Switch in 2023.
After the initial release of *Metroid Prime* in 2002, Nintendo followed up with *Metroid Prime 2: Echoes* for the GameCube in 2004, and then *Metroid Prime 3: Corruption* for the Wii in 2007. With the positive reception of the *Metroid Prime Remastered* in 2023, many fans hoped Nintendo would also remaster *Metroid Prime 2: Echoes* for current consoles, but the company hasn’t announced any plans to do so.
Metroid Prime 2 and 3 Could Be Coming to Nintendo Switch
Nintendo insider Nash Weedle recently tweeted that all *Metroid Prime* games are planned to come to the Nintendo Switch eventually. It’s unclear if they’ll be simple ports or full remasters, but many fans are hoping for the latter. Weedle didn’t mention any specific plans for a Nintendo Switch 2 version, though the games would likely work on the new console due to backwards compatibility. Dedicated Switch 2 versions with improved graphics and performance are also a possibility, but haven’t been confirmed.
Fans are excited for the December 4, 2025 release of *Metroid Prime 4: Beyond*, which will be available on both Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Recently, the game’s description was updated, giving players a better look at the Vi-O-La motorcycle and how it will function in the game. While Nintendo hasn’t announced plans to release *Metroid Prime 2: Echoes* or *Metroid Prime 3: Corruption* on Switch, it’s possible all three *Metroid Prime* games could be released together at some point.

Remember that this information is just a rumor until Nintendo confirms it. Plans for ports or remasters can always change, even if we don’t hear about it publicly. With *Metroid Prime 4: Beyond* scheduled for December 2025 and the possibility of more remasters, fans are excited about what’s next for the Metroid series.
