Now that the Spider-Man Universes Beyond set is out and the Avatar: The Last Airbender set is almost here, Magic: The Gathering players are looking ahead to 2026. Today, Wizards of the Coast surprised everyone by announcing the final planned set for 2026: another Universes Beyond collaboration, this time with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This confirms earlier rumors about TMNT, and early looks at the cards—especially the Commander deck—suggest it will be a major highlight for Magic next year.
Based on current information, two commander preconstructed decks are planned for release in January as part of the Lorwyn Eclipsed set, and another, “Turtle Power,” will follow in March as part of the TMNT set. Notably, “Turtle Power” is the second of three preconstructed decks featuring all five colors (WUBRG). Considering how strong past multicolored *Magic: The Gathering* precons have been, this deck could be a valuable purchase for EDH players, offering many essential cards for the format. Whether or not players are excited about the TMNT collaboration or Universes Beyond in general, the “Turtle Power” precon appears to offer significant value and is likely to be popular.
The new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set shows that Magic: The Gathering is working more and more closely with Nickelodeon. They previously released a SpongeBob SquarePants Secret Lair set, and an Avatar: The Last Airbender set is also on the way.
Magic: The Gathering’s ‘Turtle Power’ Precon Has Potential to Be Packed With Commander Staples
As a huge Magic and TMNT fan, I was really curious about how this Universes Beyond set would work. Would it *feel* right for Magic? Well, after seeing a preview of the cards and products, I’m excited! The “Turtle Power” commander deck looks like a standout – the multicolored nature of the deck is awesome, and even before seeing the full card list, it seems like it’s going to be a great value. They’re including 43 brand new cards for Magic, 6 of which are the commander options, leaving plenty of room for powerful, sought-after staples and lands in all the colors. That alone could make the deck worth the price of admission!

One of the best parts of this deck is Leonardo, its leader, who brings a fresh take to the “Partner” ability alongside other key cards. This creates a unique and enjoyable “Turtle Power” strategy, differentiating it from the other revealed preconstructed decks for 2026. Another multicolored deck, “Dance of the Elements” from the Lorwyn Eclipsed set, appears to be mechanically different from the TMNT deck. Furthermore, since Lorwyn Eclipsed is getting most of the planned shock land reprints, there’s potential for other valuable lands – like dual and fetch lands – to be included in the TMNT set.
The ‘Turtle Power’ Precon Could Be an Instance of Magic: The Gathering’s History Repeating Itself
As a Magic player, I’m always excited to hear about upcoming preconstructed decks, but until Wizards of the Coast officially reveals what’s inside the 2026 precons, everything we see online is just educated guessing. Still, looking at past multicolored decks gives us some clues. The Eldrazi precons – both the multicolored ‘Eldrazi Incursion’ from Modern Horizons 3 and the colorless ‘Eldrazi Unbound’ from Commander Masters – have become seriously valuable since they were released. It’s not just the powerful Eldrazi creatures themselves driving up the price, though. The lands included in those decks – the mana bases – are also incredibly sought after and contribute a lot to their overall worth.
Turtle Power Means Power For All Kinds of Decks
The new “Turtle Power” preconstructed deck from Wizards of the Coast could become quite valuable after release, especially if it contains powerful lands or essential Commander cards. Even if the deck’s price doesn’t increase, it’s still worth buying for Commander players because it includes lands of every color. Wizards of the Coast has been making more sets like this, and releasing decks with useful cards is likely their way of showing appreciation to the growing EDH (Commander) community.
