I’ve noticed a lot of open-world games used to feel like endless to-do lists, which honestly killed the fun. But thankfully, some developers have started to get it and are giving us way more freedom to just *play*. If you’re like me and want an open-world experience where you can really forge your own path, instead of being told what to do, you’re going to love the games I’m about to share!

It’s hard to miss the similarities between *Borderlands 4* and *Destiny 2*. Given that *Destiny 2* is a highly successful looter shooter, it’s understandable why Gearbox would draw inspiration from it. However, playing *Borderlands 4* has highlighted just how limited *Destiny 2* can be, even as a game that’s constantly updated and expanded. As a longtime *Destiny 2* player – I’ve put in around 5,000 hours across different platforms – it’s disappointing to say that *Borderlands 4* excels in areas where *Destiny 2* has struggled for a while now.

Horror games are having a moment right now, but there are also some older titles that didn’t get much attention when they first came out but are actually fantastic when you revisit them. This list highlights a few excellent horror games that deserve another look – any fan of the genre should give them a try!

So, *Dune: Awakening* is still pretty new – it’s only been out a few months – and honestly, it feels like it has a ton of potential. They just dropped the first DLC, *Lost Harvest*, last week, which is awesome and really expands the Arrakis experience. I’m loving digging deeper into the world, but I’ve been thinking… it’d be incredible to explore other planets in the Dune universe, too. Sadly, it doesn’t seem like the developers, Funcom, are planning on going that route, which is a bit of a bummer.

A single poorly received game, or a series of mediocre ones, could cause a publisher to lose interest. Even if a game gets good reviews, it won’t survive if sales are low. Because of these factors, several popular game franchises might be finished – at least for now – all due to one disappointing installment.

LEGO and Nintendo have collaborated successfully on several sets, including those based on *Animal Crossing*, *Super Mario Bros.*, and *Zelda* (like the Great Deku Tree). Their LEGO versions of the Nintendo Entertainment System and Game Boy have been especially popular. Now, with this partnership continuing to thrive, fans are buzzing about potential new releases, including a *Pokémon* collection and another *Legend of Zelda* set.

Longtime fans might be surprised to learn that the next *Battlefield* game, currently known as *Battlefield 6*, is being developed primarily for consoles. In a recent interview with IGN, technical director Christian Buhl and senior console combat designer Matthew Nickerson explained that while the *Battlefield* series started on PC, focusing on consoles now makes more sense due to the game’s expanded player base.
