The open beta for ARC Raiders, called Server Slam, has begun, and players are rushing to try it out on Steam. It’s still early to tell if this initial enthusiasm will last until the game officially launches, but the beta is off to a promising start for ARC Raiders.
Embark Studios first revealed *ARC Raiders* in 2021. Since then, the game has evolved into an extraction shooter where teams of one to three players battle both the environment and each other. It’s a PvPvE experience, meaning players compete while also facing environmental challenges.
ARC Raiders Server Slam is Off to a Great Start
The open beta for ARC Raiders is designed to test how well the game servers can handle a lot of players, and it’s already proving successful in that regard. Within the first 24 hours, over 189,000 people checked out the game on Steam alone. While that number has dipped slightly to 169,000, it’s expected to climb again over the weekend as more players get a chance to play. The beta runs until October 19th and is free to join, offering a great opportunity for anyone interested in trying out the game.
Although fans of Embark’s previous game, *The Finals*, have shown interest in *ARC Raiders*, the game is also performing well compared to other recent releases. The viral survival game *Megabonk* peaked at around 117,000 players in October, *Delta Force* reached 213,000 in September, and the *Battlefield 6* beta impressively hit half a million concurrent players. While *ARC Raiders* probably won’t reach *Battlefield 6’s* numbers, it will be interesting to see the final player count when the *ARC Raiders* open beta ends.
If you’re planning to play the ARC Raiders beta, keep in mind that your progress won’t transfer to the final game. But, as a reward for participating, you’ll receive an exclusive Server Slammer Backpack when ARC Raiders officially launches on October 30th. To claim it, just make sure you log in with the same Embark ID you used for the beta.
