Pokemon GO Player Surrenders Shiny Pokemon for Their Kid

Highlights

  • One Pokemon GO player gave up their shiny Rayquaza to help their son in a heartwarming act of kindness.
  • Legendary Pokemon like Rayquaza can be hard to come by, requiring attendance at special events.
  • In exchange for the Rayquaza, their son offered to trade a regular Kabuto with CP between 858-1018.

As a dedicated Pokemon GO player who has spent countless hours catching, battling, and evolving creatures, I find the heartwarming act of kindness displayed by hmarlinbrando721 truly inspiring. The fact that they were willing to part with their hard-earned shiny Rayquaza to help their son, despite its rarity and value in the game, speaks volumes about their character.

A Pokemon GO player surrendered a shiny Rayquaza by making a trade with their son. It’s a constant challenge for Pokemon GO players to find shiny versions, since the odds of getting these creatures in Niantic’s game aren’t officially known. Meanwhile, to get Legendary versions, Pokemon GO players need to attend events and have the chance to capture some of the most powerful critters in the game.

Back in 2018, I got my first glimpse of the legendary Pokémon, Rayquaza, during the Hoenn Celebration, which was the inaugural event for Pokémon GO focusing on the third generation of Pokémon. This occasion marked the introduction of a whole series of sky-themed Pokémon, including Rayquaza, Salamence, Metagross, and all the Castform variants. A year later, in July, the shiny version of Rayquaza joined the game along with other shinies like Nidoran, Entei, and Mudkip. Catching a Rayquaza isn’t easy for us Pokémon GO players, so one parent took it upon themselves to assist their son in this quest.

A Reddit user named hmarlinbrando721 performed a trade with their son, handing over a radiant Rayquaza. Accompanied by the amusing comment “sacrifices for the little ones,” the player detailed that their son hadn’t been able to snag a Rayquaza, leading them to facilitate a trade and gift their child a shimmering Rayquaza boasting an impressive Combat Power (CP) ranging from 1979 to 2191. In return, the boy offered up a standard Kabuto with a CP of around 858 to 1018.

Players were eagerly anticipating the return of the Hoenn Legendary in June’s Elite Raids within Pokemon GO, but the event was marred by issues, making it difficult for some trainers to participate. Recognizing this, Niantic arranged a make-up event on August 3, giving players another chance to battle Rayquaza.

After wrapping up Mega Rayquaza’s appearance in Pokemon GO, trainers have more thrilling activities lined up for this month. One of the main attractions is Adventure Week 2024, an annual event within Pokemon GO that centers around fossil Pokemon and is currently ongoing until August 12. From August 8-12, Adventure Week: Taken Over will occur, showcasing Shadow Lugia as well as the introduction of Shadow Creselia in Pokemon GO. Another notable event is a Pokemon World Championships-themed gathering taking place from August 16-20, where a new costumed Pikachu will be added.
