Destiny 2: Something New God Roll Guide

Destiny 2: Something New God Roll Guide

As a seasoned Destiny 2 player with countless hours under my belt, I can confidently say that the Solstice events may not be the game-changer we all yearn for, but they certainly add a dash of excitement to the routine. The refreshed pool of traits for Something New has given this old dog a new trick or two, and it’s been a joy to see it in action.

In Destiny 2, holiday events like Solstice may not provide challenging endgame material, but they do inject some change into the usual grind and weapon customization (god rolls). The summer event, specifically Bonfire Bash, didn’t introduce much new content, however, the weapons from this event now have a revitalized pool of traits that might drop on them.

Something New is an old-standby Stasis Hand Cannon that’s been on the scene for some time, but it’s still received a recent update. If you’re interested in incorporating this weapon into your collection, here are the ideal builds, or “god rolls,” for PvE and PvP play in Something New.

How to Get Something New

In the Solstice series, all its weapons originate from the Bonfire Bash activity, and Something New is no different. By participating in this activity, you could potentially acquire one of the four weapons specifically designed for this event. The more orbs you hurl at the bonfire during the Bonfire Bash, the greater your rewards at the end. Aim to throw at least 20 orbs; this guarantees receiving four drops. This increases your chances of obtaining a top-tier build for Something New or any Solstice weapon.

As a gamer, I’ve stumbled upon something fresh that offers a captivating assortment of attributes it may bestow upon me. Here’s the lowdown on what those attributes could be:

First Trait Second Trait
Rapid Hit Explosive Payload
Subsistence Headstone
Demolitionist Precision Instrument
Snapshot Sights Kill Clip
Feeding Frenzy Frenzy
Elemental Capacitor Vorpal Weapon
To The Pain Wellspring

Origin Traits:

  • Dream Work: Assists or being assisted partially refill the weapon’s magazine from reserves and increases reload speed.
  • Nadir Focus: Sustained fire increases accuracy and range.

For both PvE and PvP there are some good combos for this weapon. In terms of PvP, To The Pain / Kill Clip is a great option. Alternatively, Snapshot Sights / Precision Instrument can work well together. Rapid Hit / Explosive Payload is a versatile roll since it is useful in both PvE and PvP. As far as the Origin Traits go, it is highly recommended that you choose Nadir Focus as it is significantly more useful in PvP.

As a gamer focusing on PvE, I’ve found that Rapid Hit/Explosive Payload and Demolitionist/Frenzy are both incredibly powerful perk combinations. If you prefer Rapid Hit or Subsistence, pairing them with Headstone makes for an impressive set of traits to consider. No matter the activity you dive into with Something New, there’s a god roll out there tailored just for you.
