As a seasoned gamer and avid MCU fan with over two decades of experience under my belt, the prospect of The Beyonders gracing our screens is nothing short of exhilarating! Growing up on a steady diet of comics and movies, I’ve seen the multiverse expand and contract more times than I can count. But the thought of these near-omnipotent beings, the Ivory Kings, manipulating events from beyond the multiverse is a game-changer, to say the least!

It’s been widely speculated about where the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) might be heading, given that Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his role as Doctor Doom in upcoming films like “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars”. The latter is highly anticipated, as it could potentially tie into the 2015 Marvel Comics event known as “Secret Wars”. One intriguing aspect that might make an appearance in these movies comes from the build-up to the comic’s crossover event titled “Time Runs Out”. This element involves mysterious extradimensional beings called The Beyonders.

Instead of being mistaken with The Beyonder, the antagonist who initiated the first “Secret Wars” and established Battleworld, the Beyonders represent a highly potent race of beings dwelling beyond the multiverse. The impending doom of the multiverse and potential obliteration spurred three Marvel characters to launch a last-ditch offensive against the Beyonders, culminating in the narrative of “Secret Wars”. Could these powerful entities potentially serve as the initiators for the MCU, making their debut in “Avengers: Doomsday”?

Who are The Beyonders?

Will Avengers: Doomsday Introduce the Beyonders?

Originated post-the initial conflict among the Celestials, these entities were often referred to as the Ivory Kings. Their role was to safeguard the multiverse from a realm beyond it, known as the Beyond space. It was later uncovered that their counterparts operating in the shadows were the Black Kings, manipulating the multiverse internally. Characters such as Knull and Venom emerged as adversaries to the Beyonders. For countless years, the Beyonders remained hidden within the Earth dimension, never exposing themselves or their powers. Interestingly, they are incapable of directly interacting with the multiverse; instead, they can only influence it indirectly through chosen agents from across the multiverse.

Following the deployment of their agents to engineer the Savage Land on Earth for evolutionary studies, they enlisted various extraterrestrial species to explore the multiverse. At one point, they utilized a specific race to transport High Evolutionary’s Counter-Earth into their interdimensional museum. As High Evolutionary attempted to reclaim his world, he was overwhelmed by the magnitude of their accumulated power, causing him great distress as his own abilities seemed insignificant in comparison. Additionally, they played a role in crafting several Cosmic Cubes, but were eventually compelled to leave these behind due to the turmoil caused by the Living Tribune and Eternity’s recognition of the cubes’ destructive nature. One of these cubes developed self-awareness and became known as The Beyonder, taking its name from those who created it.

In the course of amassing immense power, they determined it necessary to observe the demise of multiple universes. They summoned Eternity, Infinity, and Lord-Chaos, aiming to isolate their experiment. By instigating collisions between various universes, they either annihilated one or both until only one remained. The Marvel Illuminati clashed with these heroes in an attempt to halt this catastrophe, leading to a confrontation with the inhabitants of Earth. The epic battle between Earth 616 and the Beyonders was initiated by Doctor Strange, Molecule Man, and Doctor Doom. Doom enlisted Molecule Men from across the multiverse, who were weapons meant for destruction in their home universes. Instead, these beings were mobilized against the Beyonders, ultimately destroying them with a bomb composed of Molecule Men. The ensuing explosion gave birth to a new Battleworld and instigated the Secret Wars, with God Emperor Doom now presiding over this realm.

The Beyonders in the MCU

Will Avengers: Doomsday Introduce the Beyonders?

Although they haven’t publicly emerged, there are strong indications suggesting they might be secretly active. For example, the series has hinted at the existence of the Celestials, who were responsible for creating the Beyonders before our current Marvel universe came into being. Furthermore, characters like Eternity have been introduced, foreshadowing the expanding cosmic entities that the MCU will likely explore in upcoming movies.

In the movie “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” viewers were first made acquainted with Charlize Theron’s character, Clea. Her message to Doctor Strange about the impending rise of Incursions in the multiverse suggests that a significant aspect of the Beyonder’s plan to demolish the multiverse from comic books is now unfolding within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Although the roots of the Incursions are still unknown, their presence might eventually lead Doctor Strange to identify these entities. In his quest, he may seek help from none other than Victor von Doom to halt them.

In the upcoming film “Avengers: Doomsday”, Doctor Doom, a formidable villain with an imposing presence, is set to make his appearance. This introduction positions him as the potential main antagonist of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Robert Downey Jr. will lead the charge as Marvel’s newest adversary in this role. Doctor Doom plays a crucial part in the build-up to “Secret Wars”, and for him to ascend to the position of God Emperor Doom within the MCU, he must confront a powerful cosmic entity such as the Beyonders. The potential danger these beings pose to the multiverse, coupled with the enigma surrounding how Robert Downey Jr. becomes Victor Von Doom, could create the perfect scenario for the Beyonders to enter the MCU in a spectacular manner.
