As a seasoned veteran of The Elder Scrolls series, I can confidently say that the latest update on Skyblivion has me more excited than a Dovahkiin with a fresh Dragonborn tattoo! This fan-made remaster is a dream come true for anyone who’s ever pined for a return to the magical lands of Cyrodiil.

As an enthusiast, I can’t help but share my excitement over the latest progress update from the creators behind Skyblivion – a remarkable fan-made project that aims to reimagine The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion within the framework of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. Recently, they unveiled a new trailer showcasing their hard work, and it’s simply breathtaking!

Initially envisioned in 2012 as a venture to transfer the content of the game “Oblivion” into the more sophisticated “Skyrim” engine, “Skyblivion” has grown significantly over the years into a complete remaster of the original title. This mod will now update the content and mechanics of “Oblivion” and align them with those of “Skyrim,” allowing players accustomed to “Skyrim” to experience “Oblivion,” the game that played a pivotal role in popularizing the “The Elder Scrolls” series. If successful, “Skyblivion” could potentially become one of the largest and most extensive mods ever created for “Skyrim.”

As a die-hard fan, I’ve been blown away by the latest gameplay trailer for Skyblivion! It’s evident that the team has put in an incredible amount of work to deliver a project on such a grand scale. The video showcased a player finishing two iconic quests from the original game – “Fingers of the Mountain,” where you get a special spell as a reward, and “The Killing Field,” which bestows upon players an exclusive Oblivion sword.

Skyblivion Gameplay Trailer Shows Off Quests and Gameplay Enhancements

The latest Skyblivion gameplay trailer runs almost 20 minutes, showing off the current state of the project. It shows off two quests based in Chorrol, a city in the heavily forested northwest of the Oblivion province of Cyrodiil and a popular early-game destination. The footage shows off how Chorrol and its environs were remastered to suit the greater graphical capabilities of Skyrim. It also includes dialog scenes and user interface elements derived from Skyrim‘s changes to the older Oblivion UI.

The first quest covered in the Skyblivion gameplay trailer is “Fingers of the Mountain,” which forms part of the Oblivion Mages Guild quest line. Players are shown visiting a mountaintop ruin at the behest of the Chorrol Mages Guild, in search of a special book. The footage of the quest in action shows off the game’s combat, which incorporates Skyrim-exclusive combat features like enhanced melee blocking and counterattacks, cinematic kills, and even the ability to dual-wield magic and weapons. As a result, the player is able to wield the unique Finger of the Mountain spell in their left hand while holding a weapon in their right. The Skyblivion trailer also demonstrates enhanced reactivity over Obilivion in the second quest, “The Killing Field.” In the remastered version, the quest location – a farm the player helps defend from goblins – will change depending on which of several outcomes players earn while accomplishing the quest.

Although Skyblivion isn’t set to launch until its 2025 release window, it’s already promising to be a remarkable re-creation of one of the most cherished RPGs ever made. Provided the development progresses smoothly, fans of The Elder Scrolls series can anticipate an exciting experience, especially considering the lack of updates on The Elder Scrolls 6 so far.
