Latest Mortal Kombat 1 Update Patch Notes Revealed

Highlights

  • The newest Mortal Kombat 1 patch largely focuses on the DLC character Takeda Takahashi.
  • Some characters have also been tweaked, including Frost, Ferra, and Tremor.
  • The Khaos Reigns expansion will be released on September 24, bringing a new story campaign and more DLC fighters.

As a seasoned gamer who has been following the Mortal Kombat series since its inception, I must say that this latest update for Mortal Kombat 1 is a breath of fresh air. The focus on Takeda Takahashi and the tweaks to other characters like Frost, Ferra, and Tremor shows that NetherRealm is not only listening to player feedback but also actively working to improve the game.

In a recent update for Mortal Kombat 1, developers NetherRealm have focused on the DLC character Takeda Takahashi, who joined the game in July with his techno whip. This ninja from Shirai Ryu isn’t the last addition; more characters are planned. At San Diego Comic-Con this year, NetherRealm revealed the expansion “Khaos Reigns,” which will offer a new story campaign following the base game and introduce three additional DLC characters: Cyrax, Sektor, and Noob Saibot. Three more guest fighters are coming in Kombat Pack 2, including Ghostface, T-1000, and Conan the Barbarian.

Anticipation builds as fans count down to the September 24 release date for “Khaos Reigns”. Meanwhile, NetherRealm Studios has been consistently refining the gameplay of “Mortal Kombat 1” through a succession of update patches since its initial launch in October last year. Typically, these updates coincide with the introduction of DLC characters, but they also aim to rectify broader problems such as character balance, glitches, and technical hiccups reported by players.

One of these patches was released earlier this week, and while it isn’t as massive as some past Mortal Kombat 1 updates, it still introduces some useful quality-of-life changes. Most of these changes are for Takeda, who is seeing some adjustments to his Swift Stride and Shooting/Falling Star attacks. Mortal Kombat 1 Kameos Frost, Ferra, and Tremor are also getting a few tweaks, with Frost getting some changes to her Snow Flakes Cancel, Ferra having her Health slightly nerfed, and Tremor’s Rolling Rock, Transmute Ground Pound, and Transmute Lava Burst attacks being altered.

Previously stated, there’s additional content headed to Mortal Kombat 1 with the upcoming DLC, Khaos Reigns, which includes a fresh storyline about Titan Havik’s plan to create chaos across the entire Mortal Kombat multiverse. This storyline sees Liu Kang stepping up to thwart Havik. Additionally, Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon has hinted at potential new characters joining Kombat Pack 2, such as Invincible, Chucky the Doll, and even Blanche, a character last seen in Mortal Kombat 10‘s Outworld Marketplace stage.

Fans of Mortal Kombat 1 can look forward to a promising future as NetherRealm remains responsive to player input while refining their latest fighting game via downloadable updates. Launched last fall, Mortal Kombat 1 was an instant success, and through numerous patches and additional content releases, it has steadily improved into one of the most polished games in the long-running franchise.
