What To Do With The Sobering Stone In Black Myth: Wukong

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that the latest addition to my collection, Black Myth: Wukong, has truly tested my mettle. The absence of a traditional map and quest menu has certainly added an element of mystery and challenge to this game, making it stand out from the crowd.

In Black Myth: Wukong, you won’t find a conventional map or quest log to guide you through each chapter. However, there are extensive side quest chains leading to hidden areas and bosses, which can be discovered by assisting the right Non-Player Characters (NPCs).

In many video games, side missions might ask players to gather a particular item or vanquish an adversary for an NPC, and these tasks can be taken on without first conversing with the NPC or knowing exactly how to proceed. For instance, some players may inadvertently begin working on the Drunken Pig’s quest, which initially necessitates the Sobering Stone. Here’s what you should do with this item once you’ve found it.

Where To Get The Sobering Stone In Black Myth: Wukong

In Chapter 2, you’ll come across The Sobering Stone at the Yellow Wind Formation – Windcrest Bridge shrine location. After crossing the bridge, venture into the village. Keep going along the path to your left until you spot a staircase on your right, where a rat enemy is descending. At the top of these stairs, look to your left to find a fire near an entrance, with a luminescent pot within. Running towards or destroying this pot will cause it to shatter, awarding players The Sobering Stone. Players then have the option to perish and respawn at the nearest Shrine, or continue their journey through the village, as the use of The Sobering Stone isn’t available here.

Hold the Sobering Stone in your grasp, make your way towards Fright Cliff – Rockrest Flat Shrine. Once you arrive at the shrine, face it and choose the path to its left. Continue straight ahead until you spot a rocky opening. This opening will be flanked by a slanted rock on one side and trees that seem lifeless on the other. Pass through this gap, which will lead you to a vast open area. The Drunken Pig, an NPC, is just up ahead and slightly to your left. Approach him to deliver the Sobering Stone, as it’s necessary for his quest and completing this initial part will unlock more of it.

Players can return to start or complete this quest at any time.

At The Drunken Pig’s discretion, you can embark on a journey – one that isn’t compulsory, but offers enticing rewards: a fresh territory to explore, encounters with two exclusive bosses, and the acquisition of a novel Vessel. Vessels are potent tools for your collection, capable of unleashing powerful abilities with Qi, while also providing a persistent bonus effect.
