It might seem surprising, but a new Indian animated film, Mahavatar Narashimha, is being accused of copying famous fight scenes from the 7-year-old game God of War (2018).
The 2018 God of War, reimagined for Santa Monica, is a truly exceptional game. It delivers the brutal, satisfying combat Kratos is known for, with even more impressive boss battles and action scenes. The opening fight between Kratos and Baldur is particularly memorable – so much so that even Mahavatar Narashimha seems to agree!
God of War And Mahavatar Narashimha Have Something In Common?
You might not have heard of Mahavatar Narashimha, an Indian animated movie, and that’s perfectly normal. It hasn’t gotten much attention outside of India. While it first premiered at the International Film Festival of India in 2024, it only recently became widely available in theaters.
Since the movie premiered in July 2025, people have been talking about a scene from the Mahavatar Narashimha sequence that closely resembles the first fight between Kratos and Baldur.
I just saw this amazing video on X (formerly Twitter) from Black Thunder! They put the God of War scene and this clip from Mahavatar Narashimha right next to each other, and it’s wild! Apparently, there’s a moment where the character in Mahavatar Narashimha gets launched into the air and crashes down, just like Kratos does in God of War. It’s a 19-second clip, and the similarities are really noticeable – the character even lands face-first, exactly like Kratos! It’s a pretty clear imitation, if you ask me.
For several tense seconds, the villains repeatedly swoop towards the main character, each time failing to hit and then rising again with a threatening posture. The heroes respond by forcefully uprooting a tree, only to be immediately knocked down and attacked in nearly identical sequences.
