As a One Piece enthusiast, I can’t help but appreciate the importance of power within the Marine ranks, given their status as one of the Three Great Powers. To stand against the mightiest individuals in the series, it’s crucial that they possess an exceptional level of strength. Over time, fans have witnessed some truly formidable Marine characters, whose power approaches that of the Yonko. While these powerful Marines may be few and far between, their existence within the One Piece world is undeniable.
5 Kuzan (Former)
Joined The Navy And Trained By Garp

As a dedicated fan of One Piece, let me tell you that among the Marines, none compare to Kuzan, previously known as Admiral Aokiji in my eyes. This Marine stands on a league above the typical Admiral, a fact evident from his epic 10-day battle with Sakazuki on Punk Hazard. Such an extended duel signifies they were almost evenly matched in power and ability. Although Sakazuki emerged victorious at the end of this grueling fight, Kuzan inflicted significant damage upon him, demonstrating that he belongs among the strongest characters in the One Piece world.
In terms of raw power, it’s well-known among fans that Kuzan’s abilities are extraordinary due to the Hie Hie no Mi, a Logia type devil fruit, which grants him the unique capability to transform into, generate, and control ice at will. In essence, he can be considered an individual capable of assuming an icy form. Kuzan underwent training under Garp, a testament to his exceptional Haki skills, a level that is truly hard to overstate. It’s reasonable to assume that his abilities are almost on par with the Yonko, making him highly valued by Blackbeard.
4 Sakazuki

His power originates from the Magu Magu no Mi, a devil fruit that grants him the ability to create, transform into, and control magma whenever he desires. This extraordinary capability makes it clear to fans that his offensive potential ranks among the greatest, surpassed only by a select few other devil fruits. It’s also likely that he wields an incredibly strong form of Haki, although we haven’t witnessed the full extent of his might yet. The fact that Sakazuki is eager to engage in war against the Yonko serves as evidence that he possesses power comparable to their own.
3 Dragon (Former)
Held A High Rank In The Navy

In a simpler and more conversational manner: Oda and the Final Saga have confirmed that Dragon used to be a Marine, but now he leads one of the most threatening groups in the world, the Revolutionary Army. Given his role, fans believe him to be extremely powerful, with some even speculating that he’s as strong as the Yonko or perhaps even stronger.
This dragon exhibits a mysterious talent, and moreover, undoubtedly wields all three forms of potent Haki. Spectators have not yet witnessed his full potential, but merely observing his size hints at a power equal to that of the Yonko.
2 Sengoku
The Legendary Buddha Of The Navy

Indeed, the retired Fleet Admiral of the Marines, more famously known as Sengoku or ‘the Buddha’, remains a formidable figure even in his advanced years. In days long past, he held the rank of Admiral during an era notorious for its powerful pirates, including legends like Roger and Whitebeard.
Sengoku has rightfully gained respect due to his ability to hold his own against colossal adversaries. His unique Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Daibutsu, grants him the transformative power to assume a massive Buddha form and generate tremors at will. To top it off, he’s adept in all three types of Haki, demonstrating remarkable mastery. In essence, Sengoku is an exceptionally powerful figure who can challenge the mighty Yonko, even at an advanced age.
1 Garp
The Hero Of The Marines
- Position: Instructor
It’s clear that among all the Marines portrayed in One Piece, Luffy’s grandfather, Monkey D. Garp, stands out as the most remarkable. In battle, Garp is truly formidable, and his skills have been impressively demonstrated to fans. He possesses expertise in every type of Haki, with his Advanced Conqueror’s Haki being so powerful that a single punch from him could potentially flatten entire towns.
Even though I’m not at my peak performance these days, back then, during my prime as Garp Long, I could hold my own against a Yonko. In fact, I once cornered the Pirate King himself – a feat that only a handful of Marines can claim.
