I was really blown away when Lies of P came out last September. Critics seem to agree it’s a great game – it’s sitting around an 82 on OpenCritic, and 88% of critics recommend it. Our own Dalton Cooper gave it an 8/10, saying it’s super fun once you really get the hang of the combat, though it does take some time to master. Honestly, Lies of P has only gotten better since launch, and a lot of people, myself included, think it’s one of the best Soulslike games out there that isn’t made by FromSoftware, especially now with the Overture DLC added in.

Aura became popular because of Lucario, the Pokémon most associated with it. Lucario even created the move Aura Sphere, a strong attack that always hits its target. While Lucario is famous for it, other Pokémon can also use Aura Sphere in battle. Interestingly, some humans can sense and use aura too, and they’ve been known as Aura Guardians for centuries.

Firevolt is a game development studio founded by experienced developers who have worked on popular games like Crysis, Far Cry, Warface, and World of Tanks. Until recently, they’ve mostly provided support to other studios, offering services like art creation, design, demo development, and porting games to platforms like PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Steam Deck. KingFish appears to be one of the first games Firevolt is creating themselves. Their Steam page currently lists only one other project: a demo for a cooperative racing game called WheelMates.

If you’ve never heard of it, the Wilhelm scream is a sound effect that originated in the 1950s. It’s become a bit of an inside joke among film editors, and they’ve repeatedly used it in movies like Star Wars. It’s also popped up in many video games, and it seems Valve has added it to their new Steam Controller as a hidden Easter egg.
