Sony is about to release a new four-player shooting game developed by Bad Robot Games, the video game studio from JJ Abrams’ production company. The game is being led by Mike Booth, who previously directed the popular and critically acclaimed zombie shooter, Left 4 Dead.
The game is being developed for both PlayStation 5 and PC. We don’t have many details yet, but more information will be coming soon.
Mike Booth is Back in the Studio and Cooking
Last September, we reported that Mike Booth, who created and designed Left 4 Dead, was working on a new shooting game inspired by what made the original L4D so popular.
Today, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced it’s working with Bad Robot Games to develop and create the game.
On Reddit, Booth wrote:
Hi, I’m Mike Booth, the creator of Left 4 Dead. I’m thrilled to announce my new project: a 4-player co-op shooter inspired by what players loved about Left 4 Dead.
If you liked the collaborative gameplay, exciting challenges, and ability to play again and again in my previous games, you’ll likely enjoy this one too. It takes the team-based experience even further, building on ideas I’ve been eager to try for a while.
We’re still working on the game, but we’re now letting a small group of players try it out. If you’d like to be one of the first to play and help us improve it, we’d be thrilled to have your feedback!
Anna Sweet, CEO of Bad Robot Games, announced in a recent press release on the Sony Interactive website:
Working with Sony Interactive Entertainment will help us fully realize our new game idea, and build a large and detailed world around it.
We’re working with PlayStation to create something really unique and exciting for players. I’m thrilled to have Mike Booth leading the creative side of this project – he’s building a co-op adventure designed to create lasting memories with friends.
Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 are still considered two of the best zombie shooting games ever made. They continue to be enjoyed by many players, thanks to a dedicated modding community that constantly creates new and improved content.
