Space Marine 2: How To Change Class & Loadouts

As a seasoned Space Marine veteran, I must say that the flexibility offered in “Space Marine 2” to customize my character is nothing short of breathtaking. The ability to create and tailor my own Space Marines based on six distinct classes, each with its unique arsenal, provides an exhilarating level of personalization that keeps me engaged and excited.

The primary storyline in ‘Space Marine 2‘ primarily focuses on the character Titus, with only minor variations unless you opt to play as his comrades during multiplayer sessions. In both Operations and Eternal War modes, players have the freedom to customize their own Space Marines, choosing from any of the six available classes.

In each class, you’ll find a diverse selection of firearms and equipment at your disposal, enabling you to craft numerous unique Space Marine characters. You have the flexibility to adjust your class and weapon setup, to some extent, during Operations and Eternal War. Here’s how to modify both.

How To Change Your Class & Loadout In Operations

In Operations gameplay, your character’s class is predetermined prior to the commencement of a mission. You have to complete the mission or leave it before you can alter your class. Upon transitioning into Operations mode, you’ll be given the option to select your desired class. However, you can only modify this selection while you are on the Barge at the Armouring Hall. This location can be easily accessed by turning around from the Thunderhawk platform and taking the path to the left, or quickly teleported to via fast-travel.

In the Armoruring Hall, whichever class you currently have selected when closing out of the menu will be your currently equipped class, and will stay that way until changed in the same menu. Here you can also change your loadout by selecting the class you wish to customize and selecting one of the three available loadouts along the top left menu. As you level up you’ll get access to more gear to choose from, all of which can be changed in the loadout menu.

To switch weapons, pick the weapon slot you prefer, then move to the new weapon you want by scrolling. When you hover your cursor over the desired weapon and exit the menu, it will automatically be selected. During an Operation, you’ll remain in that class with the last chosen loadout equipped.

  • Drop pods can be found in Operations that let you switch between any loadout of your current class.
  • Loadout changes mid-operation don’t change your grenade, as those need to be found.

How To Change Your Class & Loadout In Eternal War (PVP)

In contrast to Operations, the class you pick for your Battle Barge journey doesn’t influence the Eternal War. Instead, head over to the Armouring Hall and swap out weapons for various loadouts regardless of your chosen class. What makes Eternal War unique is that your class and loadout are predetermined at the start of the game. Before you jump into battle, you can pick any one of the six classes and select from among your three loadouts.

In Eternal War, if you want to switch up your character class or equipment, navigate to the game’s pause menu and pick “Change Class.” This action will instantly update your class and gear for your next respawn. Each time you respawn, you’ll revert back to your previous class and loadout until you decide to make any adjustments.

In the perpetual conflict known as Eternal War, a team can only field two units of every class, which means strategic decisions about class selection become crucial, especially when you can’t secure your preferred choice initially.
