This article contains spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen series.
For a long time, Gojo Satoru was the most popular character in Jujutsu Kaisen and became the symbol of Japan’s magical defense. He was considered the strongest sorcerer in the country, effectively discouraging threats. Though he was Japan’s best hope against the King of Curses, Gojo ultimately died in their fight. However, his sacrifice allowed a new generation of sorcerers to step forward.
Ever since the Jujutsu Kaisen manga finished, fans have debated who the most powerful sorcerer really is. While there were suggestions that Yuji Itadori might have surpassed Gojo Satoru, with Yuji now gone, it appears the author, Gege Akutami, has already introduced the next sorcerer with Gojo’s level of power. That sorcerer is Yuka Okkotsu, the granddaughter of Yuta Okkotsu.
Gojo Satoru Was The Strongest Sorcerer In JJK
In the Jujutsu Kaisen series, Satoru Gojo was overwhelmingly the most powerful sorcerer. He was born into the prestigious Gojo clan under unique conditions, possessing both the incredibly rare Limitless Cursed Technique and the Six Eyes. This extraordinary combination hadn’t appeared in four centuries, and his birth was a world-altering event.
I watched as Gojo dedicated years to intense training, pushing himself until he reached his absolute peak. He finally faced Sukuna, the King of Curses, and the two were truly evenly matched. But Sukuna had a significant advantage – the power of Ten Shadows. Ultimately, that’s what led to Gojo’s defeat and tragic death. Though he fell, I believe he laid the groundwork for the victory that would eventually come with the next generation of sorcerers.
Yuka Okkotsu Is Currently Japan’s Strongest Sorcerer
Nearly seven decades after the famous Shinjuku Showdown, Japan has produced another sorcerer as powerful as Gojo. That sorcerer is Yuka Okkotsu, the younger sister of Tsurugi and the granddaughter of Yuta and Maki. This was officially confirmed by the author as tensions rose between the Simurians and humans in Japan.
It happened a long time ago, either during the Edo period or maybe earlier, around the Keicho era—I can’t quite remember. Basically, the heads of the Gojo and Zenin families fought each other in front of everyone. Back then, the Gojo family leader had the Six Eyes and a powerful, limitless cursed technique, just like me. And the Zenin family leader was a master of the Ten Shadows technique, similar to you, Megumi. Does that make sense?
When the Simurians challenged them to a duel between powerful sorcerers, Japan selected Yuka Okkotsu as their champion. This decision was based on Yuka’s possession of the incredibly rare and potent Ten Shadows Technique, a truly unique cursed technique.
Yuka Has Access to The Ten Shadows Technique
The story makes it clear that Yuka Okotsu was born with the Ten Shadows Technique. This likely means Megumi died before Yuka was born. Because of this ability, Yuka possesses not only the power of the incredibly strong Shikigami, Mahoraga, but also all the other unique Shikigami associated with the technique.
Mahoraga is Yuka’s most valuable asset in combat, as it’s a uniquely powerful being that can adapt to anything. It was crucial in defeating Gojo Satoru, and likely allowed Sukuna to win. Having Mahoraga makes Yuka incredibly strong, but what’s even more impressive is that she has other powerful abilities as well.
Yuka Can Become The Next Gojo With Rika And Ten Shadows
It’s been revealed in JJK Modulo that Rika is actually connected to Yuka Okkotsu. Although her brother currently possesses the ring, Rika will eventually regain access to it. This means Yuka will then have access to both Rika, granting her the Copy Cursed Technique, and the Ten Shadows Technique.
Okay, I’m seriously hyped about Yuka! With her two unbelievably strong Cursed Techniques, I truly believe she’s going to reach Gojo’s level of power – and she might even surpass him! Plus, she just made a Binding Vow, which means she’s willingly given something up to get a massive boost in power. That’s a huge deal and makes her potential even more incredible.
I’ve learned that Earthling Sorcerers have this ultimate move they only use when facing death – it’s called a Binding Vow. Apparently, Yuka Okkotsu had been looking for something truly meaningful to risk her life for, and she figured if she was going to die anyway, she might as well do it for someone else. That’s what Tsurugi told me about her.
It’s unclear exactly what abilities Yuka has gained, but fans agree she’s significantly more powerful now. Many believe these new strengths position her to become Japan’s next top-level jujutsu sorcerer, comparable to Gojo.
The sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen, titled Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, is currently being published in Weekly Shonen Jump. Taking place 68 years after the Shinjuku Showdown, the story follows Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu, the grandchildren of Yuta and Maki. Chapter 15 is scheduled to come out on December 14, 2025, at midnight in Japan (11:00 AM Eastern Time, 8:00 AM Pacific Time). Readers can access the chapter for free on Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump app.
