One Piece: Every Devil Fruit Featured In The God Valley Incident

The God Valley Incident is the most significant event in the world of One Piece, despite the World Government’s attempts to cover it up. It was a massive battle involving powerful fighters from various groups – pirates and marines alike. The conflict culminated in a pivotal encounter between Gol D. Roger, Monkey D. Garp, and a possessed Rocks D. Xebec, fundamentally changing the world.

Fans have long wondered about the details of the God Valley Incident, and the One Piece manga recently revealed a comprehensive account. This included a breakdown of every Devil Fruit power used by the characters involved. The story showcased both familiar abilities that hadn’t been seen in a while, and powers that would eventually be passed down to future characters – here’s a complete list of all the Devil Fruits that played a role.

Uo Uo No Mi, Model: Seiryu

Eaten By Kaido

  • Type: Zoan (Mythical)
  • Debut: Chapter 921 (Manga) Episode 912 (Anime)

This Devil Fruit is one of only two seen during the God Valley Incident that were actually eaten by characters during the event. The Uo Uo No Mi, Model: Seiryu, was a prize in a contest for Celestial Dragons, but Kuma and Ivankov managed to obtain it when the island descended into chaos.

It’s absolutely wild to think about how Kaido got his powers! Apparently, Big Mom just attacked a young Ivankov and snatched the Uo Uo no Mi right out of his hands. Ivankov had intended it for his son, Katakuri, but then Kaido showed up and ate the fruit right in front of Big Mom! That’s the instant Kaido became a total force to be reckoned with in the One Piece world. The Uo Uo no Mi let him transform into this massive, incredible azure dragon – he could fly and even breathe fire! And he wasted no time using those powers, even against Imu!

Nikyu Nikyu No Mi

Eaten By Bartholomew Kuma

  • Type: Paramecia
  • Debut: Chapter 473 (Manga) Episode 368 (Anime)

The Nikyu Nikyu no Mi Devil Fruit played a crucial role in the God Valley Incident, fundamentally altering history multiple times. As a young Bartholomew Kuma discovered it – one of the prizes in the competition – he quickly ate it, preventing Big Mom and Saint Jaygarcia Saturn from claiming it.

Kuma’s Nikyu Nikyu no Mi gives him the power to repel objects with his paw pads, effectively letting him ‘teleport’ people across distances. He used this ability to rescue numerous slaves and innocent people from the Celestial Dragons, including himself and those he cared about. He even managed to stop a possessed Xebec from killing his wife, Eris, and son, Marshall D. Teach, at the last possible moment.

Gura Gura No Mi

Eaten By Edward Newgate (Whitebeard)

  • Type: Paramecia
  • Debut: Chapter 552 (Manga) Episode 461 (Anime)

I remember when things started to heat up in God Valley. By that point, Edward Newgate, better known as Whitebeard, had already consumed the Gura Gura no Mi. That Devil Fruit gave him the power to generate massive shockwaves, essentially creating earthquakes and tsunamis. He’d become incredibly powerful and was acting as Rocks D. Xebec’s most trusted ally – a real powerhouse pirate.

At God Valley, Whitebeard bravely fought against other powerful pirates and even managed to strike Imu with a strong attack, aided by his crew. Despite this, he wasn’t strong enough to compete with the island’s most formidable fighters, leading him to retreat and build his own pirate group.

Soru Soru No Mi

Eaten By Charlotte Linlin (Big Mom)

  • Type: Paramecia
  • Debut: Chapter 552 (Manga) Episode 461 (Anime)

Charlotte Linlin gained the powers of the Soru Soru no Mi long before the God Valley Incident. When she was a child, she unintentionally ate the Devil Fruit’s previous owner, Mother Carmel. This gave her the ability to take people’s souls and use them to bring things like fireballs and thunderclouds to life.

Throughout the battle at God Valley, Big Mom consistently used her powerful companions, Zeus and Prometheus, giving her a significant edge in fights. She even unveiled a new, devastating attack called Heavenly Fire Blitz, but Garp proved to be too strong. Later, Big Mom and her crew also directed their attacks towards Imu.

Fuwa Fuwa No Mi

Eaten By Shiki

  • Type: Paramecia
  • Debut: Chapter 0 (Manga) Episode 426 (Anime)

Shiki, known as the “Golden Lion,” is a captivating character in One Piece. He’s intriguing both because of his connection to the legendary Rocks Pirates – a group based on real historical figures – and because he was the villain in a One Piece movie whose place in the official story is still debated. Regardless, both the movie and the manga have allowed Shiki to demonstrate the amazing abilities granted by his Fuwa Fuwa no Mi (Float-Float Fruit) on several occasions.

Shiki’s Devil Fruit power lets him manipulate any non-living thing he touches, effectively giving him telekinesis. During the battle at God Valley, like many of the Rocks Pirates, he used this ability in combat. However, he was more focused on grabbing treasure than on the arrival of high-ranking World Government officials. Ultimately, he managed to claim a significant amount of loot and then set out to create his own pirate group.

Jiki Jiki No Mi

Eaten By Captain John

  • Type: Paramecia
  • Debut: Chapter 504 (Manga) Episode 398 (Anime)

The God Valley Incident takes a fascinating turn because recent flashbacks in the manga show that several members of the Rocks Pirates already possessed Devil Fruits that other characters would later eat. For example, Captain John was shown using the magnetic abilities of the Jiki Jiki no Mi – the same Devil Fruit later known as Eustass Kid’s.

John was able to create a strong metal gauntlet, much like the person who came after him. He famously used it to steal chests from his crew, and is known for hiding a massive treasure within the One Piece world. Years later, John died, and his body was taken by Gecko Moria. Meanwhile, the power that allowed him to create the gauntlet was reborn and eventually consumed by Kid.

Bomu Bomu No Mi

Eaten By Ganzui

  • Type: Paramecia
  • Debut: Chapter 110 (Manga) Episode 65 (Anime)

A shocking moment during the flashback to the God Valley Incident revealed that Ganzui, a pirate from the Rocks Pirates, originally possessed the Bomu Bomu no Mi. This Devil Fruit allows its user to transform any part of their body into a bomb – the same fruit later consumed by Mr. 5 of Baroque Works.

He primarily used his ability to transform his own dirt-like substance into bombs and launch them at enemies, a tactic remarkably similar to Mr. 5’s use of explosive mucus. Like John, the appearance of another character using this Devil Fruit’s powers suggests Ganzui eventually died, a conclusion supported by the evidence that Gecko Moria seemingly reanimated his body as a zombie.

Horo Horo No Mi

Eaten By Gill Bastar

  • Type: Paramecia
  • Debut: Chapter 442 (Manga) Episode 337 (Anime)

For a split second, we see Gill Bastar, a member of the Rocks Pirates, briefly summon a ghost. This confirms he ate the Horo Horo no Mi, the same Devil Fruit Perona would later consume. While we don’t see him use the ghosts much in combat, it’s likely they, like Perona’s, can also inflict negative emotions on enemies.

This is a clever and funny nod to an earlier work by One Piece author Eiichiro Oda. Gill Bastar appears in Wanted!, a short story Oda created before One Piece. He’s a well-known gunslinger who is haunted by the ghost of Wild Joe, a bounty hunter he killed. Like other members of Gecko Moria’s crew, Gill Bastar appears as a zombie in his army, meaning he died at some point and his body was later used by Perona.

Aro Aro No Mi

Eaten By Manmayer Gunko

  • Type: Paramecia
  • Debut: Chapter 1135 (Manga)

The God Valley Incident wasn’t just a battle between pirates and the Marines. The Knights of God, an elite group tasked with protecting the Celestial Dragons, were also involved. Among them was Manmayer Gunko, known for his dangerous Depths Covenant and the strange abilities granted by the Aro Aro no Mi fruit.

By eating a Devil Fruit, Gunko developed the power to create and control arrows that can pierce enemies and dictate their actions. While she primarily focused on protecting the World Nobles during the recent events, she was also observed using her abilities to hunt, giving her a clear edge in the Native Hunting Competition.

Iba Iba No Mi

Eaten By Shepherd Sommers

  • Type: Paramecia
  • Debut: Chapter 1143 (Manga)

Shepherd Sommers is unique among the Knights of God who fought in the God Valley Incident because he consumed a Devil Fruit. His fruit, the Iba Iba no Mi, lets him generate and control thorny vines, which he frequently uses to inflict pain and torture on others.

During the event, Sommers was assigned to protect Shakky, the competition’s grand prize, and move her to a new location. He attempted this by brutally attacking her with his thorn-like weapons. Just as Sommers was about to kill her, Silvers Rayleigh intervened, swiftly defeating Sommers and rescuing Shakky. This rescue marked the start of their long and loving relationship.
