Red Bull Has Turned 2000 Drones Into the World’s Largest Game of Tetris

For the Red Bull Tetris World Championship final, Red Bull orchestrated a massive game of Tetris using 2,000 drones – making it the largest Tetris game ever created.

For a recent event, Red Bull transformed the 150-meter-tall Dubai Frame – a famous landmark that opened in 2018 – into a giant game board for Tetris. Red Bull claims this created the world’s first playable, live-action Tetris game in an outdoor setting.

The game utilized 2,800 drones in total. Each player needed 1,400 drones per game because of limitations with the drones’ battery life.

I was so excited to see Fehmi Atalar from Türkiye win! He absolutely crushed it with a score of 168,566 in just five minutes. Leo Solórzano from Peru played a great game too, finishing with 57,164, but Fehmi was just on another level!

Red Bull explained that the competition involved players controlling drones using their smartphones. The qualifying rounds included participants from 60 different countries, all competing directly on their mobile devices.

Fehmi Atalar, winner of the Red Bull Tetris World Final, described the event as truly unique and indescribable. “It’s not a thing you can describe in words,” he said.

After five years of playing Tetris, Atalar said this was his greatest moment – a truly unique experience. “I felt like I was playing on autopilot,” he explained. “While I could have been a little more precise, I had a perfect run, didn’t miss a single point, and I’m thrilled with how it went.”
