Steam Users Can Claim Retro Platformer for Free Until December 18

Steam is giving away a free sci-fi platformer called One Gun Guy until December 18th. It’s a retro-style game, and Steam frequently offers free games of all types. These deals don’t last long, so if you’re interested, be sure to claim it soon!

Lots of free games are available to download and keep right now, catering to different tastes. Recently, Steam offered a spooky horror game called Just Ignore Them, which players generally liked. Earlier in December, you could also get Warhammer 40K: Darktide from Fatshark and the city-building game Songs of Syx for free. Currently, Steam is offering Pearl Abyss’ fantasy online game, Black Desert, free of charge until December 18th, letting players add it to their game collection without spending any money.

Ritual Games and GrabTheGames are letting gamers try out their new project, One Gun Guy, for free on Steam until 10 AM PST on December 18th. This fast-paced sci-fi action platformer can be completed in around 20 minutes, but with multiple difficulty levels, it’s designed to be played again and again. The game takes place on a single, large level filled with power-ups, dangers, secrets, and enemies, culminating in a final boss battle.

Steam isn’t the only place to find free games. The Epic Games Store has been giving away one or two free games every week or two since it launched in 2018. What started as a short-term strategy to attract players from Steam has continued for seven years. Right now, you can get Hogwarts Legacy for free on the Epic Games Store until December 18th, after which they’ll offer a different free game.

Gamers can also look forward to some other free content, even if it’s not a full free game. Larian Studios recently made a free upgrade available for Divinity: Original Sin 2, letting fans play the game on newer consoles like the Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S with improved graphics (4K resolution and 60 frames per second). Plus, free expansions are coming for both STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl (launching December 16th) and Hollow Knight: Silksong, though Silksong‘s new content won’t be available until 2026.
