A shortage of memory chips is impacting the graphics card market, and Nvidia may reduce production of its upcoming GeForce RTX 50 Series as a result.
Nvidia is planning to cut back on the supply of its newest graphics cards by 30-40% compared to the first half of next year, according to reports from BoBantang and Benchlife. This reduction is reportedly due to a shortage of GDDR6 and GDDR7 memory, which has also caused prices to jump for consumers, as AI companies are purchasing most of the available supply.
According to Benchlife, sources at companies working with NVIDIA—including partners and suppliers—say the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and the 16GB version of the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti are the most likely graphics cards to see production cuts.
Nvidia hasn’t yet commented on the report. We’ve reached out to Nvidia for a statement, but haven’t received a response. We’ll update this article if we hear back from them.
