Tech YouTuber Lamarr Wilson Has Died at Age 48

Lamarr Wilson, a popular content creator known for his funny tech videos on YouTube and other platforms, passed away on December 19 at the age of 48. His family announced the news on Facebook on December 13, and fans have been sharing their sympathy online.

Wilson, born in Chicago on October 22, 1977, started his YouTube channel in 2008. For over 17 years, he became known as “That Unboxing Guy” by creating videos that unboxed and humorously reviewed tech, video games, and smart devices. More recently, he’s reviewed products like the newest iPhones and the Nintendo Switch 2. When the COVID-19 pandemic began, Wilson shifted his focus to creating shorter videos for platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, a change from the longer-form content he’d been making previously.

Lamarr Wilson Died Weeks After His 48th Birthday

Wilson was last seen publicly in late October 2025 at a Forbes event in Los Angeles, which he shared on Instagram. His final video, reviewing Belkin charging stations, was posted on November 12th. Shortly after, fans grew concerned when he stopped posting on social media. On December 13th, his family announced his passing. They shared that they were deeply saddened and that he had several ongoing projects with tech and media companies at the time of his death.

The family of Wilson has thanked his team and fans for the support and inspiration he provided through his videos. He passed away at his Los Angeles home on Friday, November 21st, only four weeks after turning 48. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner determined his death was a suicide, and the investigation is ongoing. Wilson had been selected to judge the CES Innovation Awards at the 2026 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, scheduled for January 4th.
