Meet The Next Shonen Anime That Is Going To Steal Demon Slayer’s Throne

This article contains spoilers from the Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen series.

2025 truly belonged to Demon Slayer in the world of anime. The release of Infinity Castle Part 1 was a massive success, exceeding all expectations and providing an unforgettable experience for fans. It also raised the bar for future anime films. Building on the already huge success of Mugen Train, Demon Slayer continued to solidify its position as a leading force in anime movies, and Infinity Castle only amplified that dominance.

While Demon Slayer is incredibly popular, it’s not impossible for other new anime to become just as successful, especially with major movie releases. Right now, Jujutsu Kaisen is the most likely contender to take its place at the top. Rumors suggest Jujutsu Kaisen is planning a huge film featuring a battle between Gojo and Sukuna, which fans believe could be even more epic than anything seen before.

Demon Slayer Is Huge, But JJK Can Rival It

  • Infinity Castle Broke All Records In 2025
  • Gojo Vs Sukuna Movie Could Be Coming After JJK Season 3

Demon Slayer is incredibly popular, and has been for quite some time. Even before the anime came out, it was a huge hit in Japan. The anime adaptation, created by Studio Ufotable, only increased its popularity. After the release of the ‘Mugen Train’ movie, the series reached new heights, and it currently holds the record for the highest manga sales per volume ever – proving its massive global appeal.

While the Mugen Train arc was incredibly popular, the Infinity Castle arc truly elevated Demon Slayer to a new height of success. It’s undeniable how popular Demon Slayer has become, but it’s also fair to say other series could potentially reach the same level. If any new shounen series is poised to compete with it, it’s Jujutsu Kaisen.

I’ve been watching the success of Jujutsu Kaisen, and their movie, JJK0, really stood out to me. It’s impressive how well it did, especially considering it’s a prequel focusing on different characters than the main story. It wasn’t aiming to be the biggest box office hit, and it wasn’t about the characters we usually follow. Still, it performed amazingly both in Japan and internationally. It makes me think a movie that directly adapts events from the anime, with the core characters we know and love, would be absolutely huge!

Jujutsu Kaisen Movie Will Come For Demon Slayer’s Records Very Soon

If Jujutsu Kaisen releases a movie that continues the main story instead of a new season after Season 3 ends, it could become as popular as Demon Slayer and even surpass its success. It’s important to remember that Jujutsu Kaisen already features what many consider the best fight scene in recent anime history, and animating it would be a massive event.

Everyone following Jujutsu Kaisen knows a fight between Gojo and Sukuna is coming. While fans would be thrilled if it were just an entire anime season dedicated to it, many believe this epic battle deserves to be seen in theaters.

Ryomen Sukuna fights without restriction. Even when using cursed techniques, his movements aren’t hindered and he doesn’t tire. His multiple arms and hands give him a significant edge against other sorcerers, and his unusual physical form doesn’t slow him down at all. — Narrator on Ryomen Sukuna

If this fight were shown in theaters, it would be a massive event and could be the best anime battle fans have seen in years. While Demon Slayer has achieved incredible success, a movie featuring Gojo and Sukuna could potentially surpass those records.

As a huge Jujutsu Kaisen fan, I truly believe this upcoming movie has the potential to absolutely smash all the box office records currently held by the Demon Slayer films. This fight is massive for the story, and honestly, it feels like it could redefine anime action as a whole. The hype is real, and I think it’s going to pay off big time!

Gojo Vs Sukuna Movie Is The Only True Competitor Of Demon Slayer

Demon Slayer is currently dominating the anime movie scene, but other series also have a lot to offer. Jujutsu Kaisen, in particular, is shaping up to deliver an amazing battle for its fans very soon.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Gojo versus Sukuna fight is already considered by fans to be the best in modern shonen anime, so it doesn’t need a big movie to prove it. However, a theatrical release would be the ideal way for the studio to fully showcase this incredible battle, and it could potentially break Demon Slayer’s box office records.
