A few days after TopMob broke the news about microtransactions in the closed alpha test of EA Skate on Tuesday evening, we now have some insight into how much Electronic Arts is charging for their San Van Bucks (SVB) in-game currency.
It seems that, according to Reddit user sm1one_out_there, EA is charging gamers between €5 and €99, which translates roughly to $5-$99 in U.S. dollars, for in-game currency.

For every €5, you receive 500 SVB. If you choose €9.99, this increases to 1050 SVB, with an additional 5% bonus added to the amount given. Here’s how the remaining choices stand:
- €24.99 – 3,000 SVB
- €49.99 – 6,250 SVB
- €99.99 – 13,000 SVB
From the presented visuals and earlier statements by EA, it’s clear that any purchases made within the game will be for cosmetic items only, not affecting gameplay or winning strategies (in other words, there’s no ‘pay-to-win’ mechanism in EA Skate).
Here’s an example of the cost breakdown for various items: Socks are priced at 200 SVB, while board art goes for 300 SVB, and a tank top will set you back 400 SVB.
Additionally, it’s important to mention that microtransactions are being introduced exclusively for PC and PlayStation users during this playtest phase. In contrast to previous playtests, EA and Full Circle will no longer be providing random rewards of SVB to players.
In simpler terms, they made it clear that if you participate in the SVB purchase using the same account for both playtests and Early Access, the amount spent will be refunded when the Early Access launches. Additionally, any items obtained during the playtest will be reset once the Early Access officially starts, but not during the playtesting phase itself.
