Overwatch 2 Players Can Get Free Loot Boxes Right Now

Currently, Overwatch 2 players can get two free Loot Boxes by watching Twitch streams and two holiday Player Icons just for logging in. However, you need to claim these rewards by January 8th. To earn everything, watch any Overwatch 2 channel on Twitch for six hours and then log into the game.

The Winter Wonderland event is happening now in Overwatch 2! Enjoy returning favorites like Mei’s Snowball Offensive, Yeti Hunt, and Freezethaw Elimination, plus the Mischief & Magic prop hunt. There are also three different reward tracks to unlock goodies. The event runs until January 8th, giving players a little over two weeks to participate and earn rewards.

I’m so excited about the second half of Winter Wonderland! They’re giving away some free stuff right now, and I definitely want to get it. Basically, if you watch any Overwatch 2 stream on Twitch for up to six hours between now and January 8th, you can earn a free Common and Epic Loot Box. All you have to do is connect your Battle.net account to Twitch and claim the drops – the Loot Boxes will show up in your game automatically. It’s a pretty sweet deal!

You can get even more free items! Just log in during this period to receive two special holiday Player Icons: a Winter Wonderland 2025 snowflake and a New Year 2026 hat. You’ll automatically get them when you log in, and you can find them in the Customizations menu to use.

Exciting holiday-themed rewards are currently available in Overwatch 2 Season 20! Players can earn extra goodies by completing special reward tracks. The Krampus Junkrat track lets you unlock up to 40 Loot Boxes, with four being Legendary. If you prefer cosmetics, the Santa Torbjorn track offers 10 winter items, including two Legendary skins for Junkrat and Cassidy. Or, if you’re focused on Battle Pass progression, the Jingle Tracer track provides Tier Skips.

Players can earn special prizes by collecting Winter Wonderland Cookies. You get three cookies for each Daily Challenge completed during the event, and up to 64 more by completing special Winter Wonderland challenges. More cookies have just become available with the refreshed event challenges, and these new challenges are all tied to the new Mischief & Magic game mode in Overwatch 2. In this mode, Kiriko can use unique abilities based on whatever disguise she’s currently wearing.

What to Expect From Overwatch 2 in 2026

Loot Boxes expire at the end of each season and open automatically, meaning there’s no benefit to holding onto them. However, the cosmetic items available in Loot Boxes will be updated around early 2026. Previously, the update included crossover skins from games like World of Warcraft and Diablo 4, so players can likely expect more exciting cosmetic options to become available next year.

Blizzard has revealed exciting plans for Overwatch 2 in 2026, including two new maps – Atlantic Arcology and Tokyo – and updates to existing maps like Antarctica. They’ve also hinted at major additions, with more heroes planned for both the core game and the Stadium mode. Season 21 begins on February 10th, and players can look forward to a mid-Season 20 update soon after the new year.
