Boruto: Kishimoto Confirms Who Is Stronger Between Naruto And Sasuke As Adults

This article contains spoilers from the Boruto series.

Naruto and Sasuke are arguably the most iconic ninjas in the Naruto series, and their accomplishments are unparalleled. They’ve consistently faced huge threats together, from villains like Madara Uchiha to more recent enemies such as Momoshiki Otsutsuki and Jigen. Despite their strong partnership, it’s easy to forget they began as rivals and still maintain a competitive, yet friendly, relationship.

Naruto and Sasuke are rivals who constantly push each other to improve. They’ve clashed in several fights, with each of them winning at least once. Even when facing a common enemy like Momoshiki, their competitive spirit shone through, and Sasuke briefly came out on top. Fans have long debated who is more powerful as adults, but the creator, Kishimoto, has now officially revealed the answer.

Naruto And Sasuke Were Evenly Matched At The Beginning Of Boruto

  • Naruto Pulled Ahead With Baryon Mode

Early in the Boruto series, Naruto and Sasuke were roughly equal in strength. However, by the end of the Fourth Great Ninja War, Naruto had become more powerful than Sasuke. He proved this by defeating Sasuke and then gaining access to the full power of Kurama, the Nine-Tailed Beast. After that, Naruto would have easily won against Sasuke.

Kishimoto also revealed that by the time of the Boruto series, Sasuke had trained hard enough to become Naruto’s equal in strength. Later, during the fight against Isshiki Otsutsuki, Naruto gained the upper hand again. He achieved this by accessing Baryon Mode, a power that even exceeded Isshiki’s abilities.

This power is incredible – it should be far stronger than anything he possesses. However, there’s a significant cost. The way it works is by drawing on our life force. Because our chakra is linked, when this power interacts with him, it also takes years off his lifespan. That’s what makes Baryon Mode so unique and dangerous. — Kurama to Naruto Uzumaki

Sasuke wasn’t strong enough to match Naruto’s current power, meaning Naruto had become more powerful. However, Naruto’s incredible boost – Baryon Mode – came at a great cost: he lost the chakra of Kurama, his powerful spirit fox. Simultaneously, Sasuke lost his Rinnegan, a vital source of his own strength. This loss brought them back to being equals in power.

It’s easy to forget, but Sasuke still possessed a functioning Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan. This meant he could still use powerful techniques like Amaterasu, Kagutsuchi, and, importantly, summon his Susanoo.

Naruto was currently without the power of the Tailed Beasts, leaving him to depend solely on Sage Mode. At this point, Sasuke had surpassed Naruto in strength, and it appeared he’d continued to grow even more powerful since their separation.

Kishimoto Confirms Sasuke Trained With Boruto During The Timeskip

  • Sasuke Trained With Boruto Uzumaki And Got Stronger
  • Sasuke Could Injure Code

Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of Naruto, has confirmed that Sasuke is currently more powerful than Naruto. This is a result of what happened towards the end of the first part of the Boruto story, specifically when Kawaki used his Daikokuten Jutsu to seal Naruto.

Besides the Six Paths technique, the Rinnegan has another incredible ability called the Outer Path. The Rinnegan grants its user control over life and death. Konan explains to Naruto that Nagato is sacrificing himself because he believes in him.

Naruto was effectively removed from the main storyline at this point, but Sasuke remained active. After stopping Kawaki from hurting Boruto, Sasuke began training Boruto and spent roughly a year with him. Interestingly, Sasuke also used this time to improve his own abilities, as the author, Kishimoto, recently confirmed.

Sasuke became much more powerful during this period, and his increased strength was clearly demonstrated in his battle with Code.

During the fight, Sasuke managed to injure Code, taking out one of his eyes, and swiftly defeated several of his Claw Grimes. It’s important to note that Code was more powerful than Jigen at this time, having broken free of his limitations. Before this, even working together, Sasuke and Naruto couldn’t even leave a mark on Jigen.

I saw Sasuke handle the fight with Code in a way that showed just how much stronger he’d become since the time skip in the Boruto series. He was clearly capable of taking on Code and still keeping Boruto safe – it was impressive to witness his growth.

Sasuke Has Now Officially Surpassed Naruto Uzumaki

As a huge fan of the series, it’s become pretty clear to me that after the timeskip in Boruto, Sasuke actually became stronger than Naruto! His power level was just incredible. It’s a shame he ultimately lost to Code, which led to him being sealed away – a real blow to the story, honestly.

The Divine Tree drew energy from his body, which eventually led to the creation of the Shinju. Sasuke’s Shinju is named Hidari, and he’s incredibly powerful—stronger even than Naruto Uzumaki, as many fans are aware.

It’s now clear that Sasuke is stronger than Naruto. While Naruto remains trapped in Daikokuten, Sasuke will continue to grow even more powerful, and based on what we’ve seen so far, he’ll likely be back before Naruto is.

Naruto Uzumaki Will Eventually Catch Up To Sasuke

Currently, Sasuke Uchiha is more powerful than Naruto Uzumaki, but this won’t always be true. The creator, Kishimoto, has repeatedly emphasized that Sasuke and Naruto are two sides of the same coin, like Yin and Yang. They’re meant to be equals, constantly balancing each other out. As one grows stronger, the other will follow, ensuring they remain relatively matched in power.

Currently, Sasuke is more powerful than Naruto. However, when Naruto returns, he’s expected to reach the same strength level. It’s certain he’ll gain new abilities to match Sasuke’s power.

When the Boruto series finishes, Naruto and Sasuke should be equally powerful. Maintaining a balance between their strength is crucial throughout the story.

Honestly, I’m not holding my breath for Naruto to come back right now, but I really hope he does eventually in Boruto! It feels like we need to get past the whole Shinju situation first, and then see Boruto and Kawaki finish their big showdown. Once that’s settled, I think the stage will be set for Naruto’s return, and I, for one, am already so excited just thinking about it!
