Solo Leveling: 9 Best Characters That Aren’t Sung Jinwoo

This article contains spoilers for Solo Leveling.

Solo Leveling has become incredibly popular and successful. While fans enjoy the exciting action, the story mainly focuses on the main character, Sung Jinwoo, and doesn’t give much attention to anyone else.

Many fans are disappointed because the series has several interesting side characters who could have been further developed. Besides the main character, Sung Jinwoo, the cast of Solo Leveling, particularly in Solo Leveling Ragnarok, includes some truly captivating individuals.

Lee Joohee

Lee Joohee’s part in the story becomes less important after her initial appearances in the first season. However, she quickly captured the attention of many viewers during those scenes.

Lee Joohee experienced the terrible events of the Double Dungeon alongside Jinwoo, but the trauma continues to affect her deeply, unlike him. She realistically portrayed the life of a typical Hunter, though many feel her potential wasn’t fully utilized. The author, Chugong, has expressed interest in writing a separate story focusing on her and Jinwoo, but it’s uncertain if this will ever happen.

Antares

Antares is the main villain in Solo Leveling. As the Monarch of Destruction, he’s the only character powerful enough to truly challenge Sung Jinwoo by the end of the series.

Fans are eagerly anticipating the arrival of this formidable villain, a powerful ruler who can even transform into a dragon. The conflict between Jinwoo and Antares promises to be thrilling, even more so than the battles on Jeju Island. Many believe Antares has the potential to become one of the most iconic villains in modern anime.

Yoo Jinho

Yoo Jinho – Solo Leveling Episode 8

Yoo Jinho isn’t one of the most powerful characters in Solo Leveling – he’s a D-Rank Hunter. Still, he’s become a fan favorite, largely because he’s often seen with Sung Jinwoo. He first appeared in Season 1 and was helpful to Jinwoo, who was still working to improve his abilities at that time.

Jinwoo and Yoo Jinho enjoy a close, brotherly bond. They’ve been good friends ever since they first met.

Kandiaru

I’ve been following Solo Leveling, and I think Kandiaru, also called The Architect, is easily one of the most compelling villains in the series. There’s a lot of excitement among fans because it looks like he’ll be appearing in the anime soon – maybe even in the next project, if the rumors are true!

“You’ve come at last.”—System Architect to Sung Jin-Woo

Kandiaru is the main antagonist of the Double Dungeon Arc and presents a significant challenge to Jinwoo. As the System’s moderator, he set the events of the Double Dungeon in motion, ultimately leading to Jinwoo obtaining his abilities. In essence, Jinwoo’s journey wouldn’t have begun without Kandiaru’s involvement.

I represent everything you’ve overcome – the proof of your fight and the peace you’ve earned through hardship. I am death, but also the ultimate release and the source of all fear. – Ashborn to Sung Jinwoo, Solo Leveling

Go Gun Hee

Go Gun Hee is a fan-favorite character in Solo Leveling. Introduced as the Chairman of the Hunter Association, he immediately stood out with his impressive and charismatic presence.

“I’ve always wanted to fight alongside young hunters like yourself.”—Go Gun-Hee to Sung Jin-Woo

I’m seriously captivated by Go Gun Hee! He really stepped up as a father figure for Jinwoo when his own dad was out of the picture, and it’s been amazing to watch. Honestly, I think his story is just beginning, and I’m already bracing myself for all the feels when it gets animated – prepare for some shocking and heartwarming moments! His unwavering belief in Jinwoo and how dedicated he is have easily made him one of my favorite characters in Solo Leveling.

Cha Hae-In

Cha Hae-In is arguably the most significant female character in Solo Leveling. As an S-Rank Hunter, she’s among the most powerful individuals in South Korea within the series.

I’m seriously blown away by Cha in the second part of the story – she gets unbelievably strong, reaching the level of a top-tier Hunter! Honestly, I wish we’d seen a bit more of her earlier on. But she definitely shines in key moments, like the Jeju Island raid, and especially when she goes all-out to rescue Jinwoo during the Double Dungeon arc – that was awesome!

Many fans are invested in her relationship with Jinwoo, as it’s the main – and really only – romantic connection in Solo Leveling.

Sung Il-Hwan

Sung Il-Hwan is a character many viewers already know, even if they only watch the anime. He’s Sung Jinwoo’s father and disappeared years ago. Currently, he’s presented as a mysterious figure, but he’s going to be very important in the upcoming fights involving the Monarchs and the Rulers.

“I Feel Like Something Within Me Is Lost Every Time I Get Stronger.” — Sung Jinwoo

Because he’s Jinwoo’s father, he’s already proven to be a powerful figure, and viewers understand he’ll go to any lengths to protect his family. His story is just beginning, and he’s likely to become a beloved character as we learn more about what happened when he disappeared.

Sung Suho

Fans of the original Solo Leveling series won’t recognize Sung Suho. He’s a new character who will appear in the sequel, Solo Leveling Ragnarok. Sung Suho is the son of Sung Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In, and he’s the main character of the new story.

Suho is a standout character in both Solo Leveling and Solo Leveling: Ragnarok. While he shares Jinwoo’s incredible abilities, he uses them in creative and distinct ways. He’s become incredibly popular with fans, and many actually think he’s even surpassed his father in skill and power.

Thomas Andre

Thomas Andre is a highly skilled hunter from the web novel Solo Leveling, originally from the USA. Before Jinwoo’s emergence, he was widely considered the world’s best hunter. Thomas Andre is a compelling character, and his role and development continue to expand throughout the story.

As a powerful figure’s close aide, Thomas makes a strong impression. Anime fans are eager to learn more about him and are particularly excited to see how he’ll battle Jinwoo.
