We might finally get a first look at Persona 6 soon. Recent comments from Atlus staff about their plans for the Persona series up to 2026 suggest a reveal is coming, though they haven’t mentioned Persona 6 by name. They did, however, mention another upcoming game.

I always look forward to December when 4Gamer, a Japanese gaming site, does their annual interviews with heads of big game studios in Japan. Atlus, the team behind Persona, is almost always part of it, and they usually tease what they’re up to without giving away too much detail. It’s fun trying to read between the lines and guess what they’re working on next!

Atlus Producer Teases Multiple Persona Announcements for 2026

A recent interview with 4Gamer featured comments from several Atlus leaders, including veteran Persona producer Kazuhisa Wada. He noted that 2025 will be the 30th anniversary of the Persona series and hinted at exciting news to come. Wada stated that 2026 will be a time to reveal future plans for the series—using a phrase that suggests multiple projects are in the works. While he didn’t specify whether these plans involve games, events, or something else, a fellow Atlus official seemed to indicate that at least one of these projects will be a major undertaking.

Atlus Will Share More About Persona 4 Revival in 2026

Producer Atsushi Nomura recently told 4Gamer that Atlus is very grateful for the positive response to Persona 4 Revival after announcing it in June 2025 at the Xbox Games Showcase. He also said the team is excited to reveal more about the remake in 2026. Nomura, like Wada, noted that next year is special because it marks the 30th anniversary of Revelations: Persona, the original game that started the popular Persona series.

If Persona 6 Gets Announced in 2026, September Seems Like the Obvious Choice

With the 30th anniversary of the Persona series coming up on September 20th, Persona 5 will soon reach its 10th anniversary. This makes September 2026 a significant month for Atlus, and a likely time for big announcements if they choose to share them next year. However, Atlus may not reveal everything at once. Based on their past behavior, they’re more likely to start with a short teaser – similar to the one Persona 4 Revival received in June 2025 – as the first official news about Persona 6. They used a similar strategy with Persona 5, releasing a brief teaser in November 2013 before sharing a longer trailer the next year.

As a big Persona fan, I’ve been keeping an eye on Atlus, and they’ve dropped a few hints about Persona 6 before, but nothing’s ever come of it. Last year, they built up hype for a 2025 announcement, which turned out to be the Devil Summoner remaster – still cool, but not what everyone hoped for. What’s different this time is they’ve actually said 2026 is going to be a major year for the Persona series, which feels like a much stronger hint that something big, maybe even Persona 6, is finally on the way! Current estimates, based on job postings from Atlus in July 2021 and various rumors, suggest the game has been in the works for four to six years.
