Say goodbye to Pokemon Gen 10, Legends Galar leaks in 2026

Pokémon Legends: Z-A was released in October and recently received its Mega Dimension DLC. Though the game continues to offer new events and rewards, many fans are already excited about the next main installment: Pokémon Generation 10. These games have been in development for a longer period than usual, as the developers at Game Freak have taken more than three years to create them. Leaks suggest that the games, potentially titled Pokémon Wind and Wave, could be released between October and November 2026. While there have been several leaks about Gen 10 and future Pokémon projects, there’s a good reason to believe we shouldn’t expect any major announcements in 2026.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet were a critical turning point for the franchise. While the games were ambitious, expansive, and highly anticipated, many fans were disappointed with their performance. A major factor was that almost all of the game’s features and the complete Pokédex were revealed before release, thanks to the ease of accessing data on the Nintendo Switch. The upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 is different, so leaks for the next generation of Pokémon (Gen 10) will likely be limited to any leftover data from previous games – known as ‘Teraleaks’ – possibly appearing in 2026, if they happen at all.

Why The Nintendo Switch 2 Won’t Allow Pokemon Leaks in 2026

  • Pokemon Pokopia and Pokemon Gen 10 will be Switch 2 exclusives.
    • Pokopia is confirmed as a Switch 2 exclusive, and Gen 10 is rumored as such.
  • The leaked Pokemon Legends Galar game will presumably be a Switch 2 exclusive and launch between 2027 and 2028.
  • The Nintendo Switch 2 has encryption keys that no one has been able to break through.
    • According to experts and insiders, this will take years, if at all possible.
    • Renowned Pokemon leak aggregator Centro Leaks deemed the Switch 2 “unhackable,” stating that no game after Pokemon Legends: Z-A will have data, stats, Pokedex entries, and such leaked before launch.
    • Notorious Pokemon dataminer Anubis (@Sibuna_Switch) believes that datamining the Switch 2 is something that won’t happen for years.

It’s Time to Accept Pokemon Gen 10’s Starters and Full Pokedex Will Never Leak

Pokemon Legends: Z-A is The End of an Era For Pokemon Leaks

While Pokemon Legends: Z-A likely won’t receive any additional expansions, it was heavily leaked online before its release, much like the games from Generation 9. Here’s an example of the leaks…

  • All Pokemon Legends: Z-A Mega Evolutions were leaked months before release.
  • Leaks correctly claimed that PLZA wouldn’t feature new Pokemon species or forms outside of Mega Evolution.
  • Pokemon Legends: Z-A‘s DLC Pokedex was datamined when the base game launched.
  • Pokemon Legends: Z-A‘s Mega Zeraora was leaked in the original Teraleak files, almost a year before launch.
  • Pokemon Scarlet and Violet‘s Pokedex leaked with images before launch, alongside all key features, like every Pokemon’s stats, in-game locations, evolution methods, and more.

Aside from potentially some unreported information from the ‘Teraleak,’ we likely won’t see any major leaks about the upcoming Pokemon Generation 10 games in 2026. The Teraleak consists of very early design ideas, not finished game data, so the leaks won’t be as extensive as previous ones. This means fans won’t have advance knowledge of things like which Pokemon will appear, their designs, or the evolutions of the starter Pokemon.

Pokemon Legends Galar Leaks May Get the Short End of the Stick

Last October’s large data leak, known as Teraleak 2.0, revealed early details about a potential new Pokémon game called Pokémon Legends: Galar. Official documents from Game Freak indicated the game would be set in the ancient Galar region, before the invention of the Poké Ball. The leaked files also included features and concept art for Pokémon Legends: Galar, suggesting the game is currently in development following the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and could be released between 2027 and 2028.

The Nintendo Switch 2 May Be the Final Nail in the Coffin for Pokemon Leaks

Okay, so it all makes sense, but honestly, this is a bit of a bummer for a potential Pokemon Legends Galar game. Unlike with Gen 10, we won’t know if it’s even happening until we actually see it or some really trustworthy sources confirm it. Since we can’t datamine the Switch 2, this Galar game feels really uncertain – it might even be canceled without anyone saying a word! Plus, all those leaks we’ve been seeing about Gen 10? They could be totally outdated, considering those early plans are from years ago and things change. It really feels like the era of reliable Pokemon leaks is over, and I think we just need to accept that for now.
