To gain an advantage over the opposing team in Deadlock, focus on accumulating more souls than they do through relentless effort.
By doing this, your heroes will be stronger than theirs initially, giving you an edge in battles. Consequently, your team tends to triumph in skirmishes, leading eventually to the defeat of the opposing Patron.
To put it simply, having more allies than adversaries significantly increases your chances of victory. Thus, I’ll share some effective strategies for amassing souls in the game ‘Deadlock’, allowing you to gain an advantage over your opponents’ teams from the start.
1 Farming Troopers
When in doubt, kill Troopers
Let’s address the straightforward point first. Troopers serve as a primary method for gathering souls. Similar to minions in Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) games, Troopers are the units in Deadlock that spawn regularly, every 30 seconds, and attack anything they encounter.
Troopers might not be strong, but they excel at providing souls, making them a valuable choice early in the game. In fact, they drop 75 souls initially, and this amount grows as you advance further into the game.
Initially in this game, the souls acquired from defeating Troopers are equally distributed. The initial portion is earned by slaying the Trooper, while the remaining part floats upwards as a soul orb.
To obtain the second part, you need to fire at the glowing sphere. If no one does so, there’s a chance the adversary could seize it. Alternatively, if the orb isn’t fired upon, the points (or “soul number”) will be awarded to the player who defeated the Soldier.
After ten minutes have passed, there’s no more soul gain from slaying the trooper. Instead, all accumulated souls are stored within the soul orb.
As a gamer, I always aim to focus on landing melee attacks. Not only does it take down the trooper, but it also shatters the soul orb, guaranteeing that I collect the full soul reward.
2 Smashing Crates And Gold Idols
Crack ’em Open
Besides constantly cultivating Troopers, another effective strategy to gain an edge over your foe is to stay vigilant for Crates and Gold Idols.
Keep in mind that these items appear throughout the game map. To collect souls and various bonuses, you’ll need to destroy them. Note that chests contain only souls, while Gold Idols offer additional benefits such as increased health, reduced cooldown times, and other perks.
Should you be unable to locate crates, seek out small boxes of colors blue, yellow, or brown as indicated on your map instead. The color coding signifies different altitudes. Blue indicates higher elevations, such as rooftops and the likes.
Yellow means the ground level or rooms, whereas Brown indicates underground crates.
Learn where the crates typically appear, since their positions stay consistent. This knowledge will make it simpler for you to gather souls quickly at the start of the game.
3 Clearing Out Jungle Camps
Go Monster Hunting
Across the map, you’ll encounter clusters of at least three monsters with a single eye each. In the game ‘Deadlock’, these are referred to as ‘Creepers’. You can acquire souls by defeating them.
In jungle areas, you’ll find these Creeper-type creatures in camps known as Jungle Encampments. These encampments come in three levels, with each level hosting tougher monsters and offering more rewards in the form of souls, as the level increases.

Generally speaking, avoid taking on Tier 3 Creeper Camps if you are a beginner in Deadlock.
Among all the tiers, Tier 2 stands out as the top choice due to its abundance of camps and a level of challenge that’s just right, not too easy nor too hard.
4 Slots Machines
Try Your Luck
A fast method to collect some points could be locating the slot machines scattered throughout the area. They’re usually noticeable. Typically, they can be found inside buildings.
In this scenario, Slot Machines award souls whenever you attack them physically. You can earn these rewards either by performing ten regular attacks or five powerful ones. Once the specified number of attacks is reached, the machine will shatter, thus granting the final reward of souls.
The slot machines are located everywhere, offering swift opportunities for gaming when you’re strategically withdrawing or adjusting your position.
5 Killing Heroes
I Am The Danger
Destroying heroic characters consistently guarantees obtaining souls. Additionally, if an adversary possesses undefended souls from creepers, you stand to acquire those too. But remember, it’s not going to be a leisurely stroll through the park.
In simpler terms, a deadlock is more like a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game rather than a hero shooter, because the heroes become increasingly powerful and tougher to beat as the game advances.
This option could be viable if you picked a DPS hero and used items to make him better in duels.
In most cases, it’s more beneficial to engage an enemy hero alongside your teammate. This way, you’ll have an upper hand in the fight, as a 2v1 situation is generally less challenging compared to a solo encounter.
Even though it’s not the most straightforward method, it’s definitely worth attempting if you possess strong dueling abilities.

Finishing this task ensures an identical number of points for every team member. The one who finishes the task receives a 25% bonus, along with an additional ability point.
As I’m holding the Soul Urn, I won’t be able to unleash my usual arsenal of attacks or special skills. It’s crucial I keep my team in the loop so they can watch my back while I navigate this challenging situation.
Don’t fret if you failed to complete the Soul Urn Goal earlier; it reappears every 5 minutes following its initial appearance.
7 Defeating The Mid-Boss
Challenging to say the least
At the ten-minute point during the game, a Mid-Level Enemy (or Boss) will appear. This will be signaled to all players through an announcement. Overcoming this Mid-Boss is a significant aspect of the game, as it offers a beneficial enhancement and, naturally, a substantial amount of souls.
But vanquishing the Intermediate Boss isn’t going to be a casual stroll through the garden. First, it has a protective shield that must be shattered before any damage can be inflicted on its immense health pool. This task is best handled as a group effort, so remember to call your comrades for assistance.
After defeating the Intermediate Enemy, numerous Spirit Gems will be freed. Be sure to eliminate them to ensure receiving the spirit reward.
In addition to other items, your supervisor will additionally provide an essential item that requires melee attack to activate the Rejuvenator Boost. This beneficial enhancement could potentially shift the course of the fight. Let me explain its function.

In other methods, you focus on collecting souls and leading with them. However, it’s crucial to prioritize thwarting the enemy’s objectives as well. This isn’t just for winning games, but also for the purpose of accumulating more souls.
